Hi, guys. I told you a little while back that I was canned by the Q back at the end of Feb and within about 4-5 found another company. They are WONDERFUL! We are sent frequent updates of new openings every time they take on new clients and we can switch to whichever client we which - it lists the client, days of week and house required for such client. If nothing appeals to you but you want to work for this company, you can take the job and wait for something to open up.
No medical benefits and I'm not aware if they offer PTO. If you run out of work on your own acct, and YOU DO ONLY WORK ONE ACCT unless you choose otherwise, there are several E-mails out there from other supervisors asking for help on their accounts.
There are several templates set up and not just for op reports - physical exams, review of systems, etc. I do believe we get credit for those but I am not 100% sure. No tier levels - you do all types of work.
Here's the kicker. Though you start at a MQ tier 1 pay, it's only for your first 14 days while they evaluate you. After that, the minimum is 9 CPL and goes up to 12 CPL depending on your accuracy, knowledge, how well you follow the QA corrections and the account itself.
Now, here's the biggest difference - while MQ strongly discourages employees talking to each other, this company wants you to get to know each other (they even have their own forum), to help each other with formats, words, etc and we all have our IMs set up in case someone needs help. I do believe they hire new people but don't quote me on that. Their accurate rate is 99.5, not 98.5. They even have multiple samples of doctor reports and you can actually go into reports of the patient you are working on (say you're doing the DS and want to check a med - you can go look at the H&P or need to refer to the op report).
No such thing as a minimum line count and sorry for the confusion here but I interviewed so much I'm kinda confused - I do believe you get a bonus for going over something like 2500 lines a month. I hope I'm thinking of the right company.
Everyone I have dealt with there has been wonderful, pleasant and very helpful. There have been a few things that have had to be rescheduled because they're busy but it's all been very very minor. They have a couple different software platforms, depending on which account you have.
I have only found one downfall - tech support is not 24/7 but I can live with that. Tech support is very helpful and knowledgeable.
Take it from me - if you love the Q, stay. If you want out, you can make it work. I just know how many people here are unhappy with the Q. I am in no way trying to encourage anyone to quit. I'm just telling you my story.
Oh, and by the way, I did apply for unemployment. I was 100% honest with them about what happened - how sick I was the entire summer last year - 3 months between the nasty urinary tract infection that left me septic which developed into an MSSA staph infection and left me very ill, and several of my body organs inflamed. I requested time off directly to my supe and her supe at same time to try to get well and was denied by the Q but they both later lectured me that if I wasn't feeling well, I should have known better, that my output wouldn't have been up to par and my quality wouldn't have been as great because I was so sick and I should have used better judgment. I wish I had both the phone call of me asking for the time off and the one I just mentioned recorded. When I asked for time off to heal, I was told that alll PTO for July and August was taken and I just couldn't be "frivolous" with my PTO like that. Yes. Frivolous. I remember the word because it's so ridiculous.
So, here's what I got from unemployment:
This is the word for word from the Ohio Dept. of Job and Family Services' response to my unemployment claim (this was my first time ever claiming unem. benefits): I honestly would not be surprised if almost all unemployment agencies are familiar with the Q's previous practices, lawsuit, sleazy ways and settlement:
From the letter, again, this is word for word:
"The claimant was discharged by MEDQUIST TRANSCRIPTION LTD (INC.) ON 02/22/2010. After a review of facts, this agency finds that the claimant was discharged without just cause under section (yadayadayada) of the Ohio Revised Code."
So, Medquist, IN YOUR FACE!
Seriously, I hope you're all still doing well.
My health is going to crap again. My PCP sent me to the dang ER 2 days in row. I went to the crappy podunk one here the first night and to a very good one the second night. I won't bore you with the details other than the Dilaudid stuff - OMG. I rarely take Tylenol. That stuff is wild. I was drunk. They gave me 2 mg Dilaudid with Zofran, let that kick in, and started contrast for my second CT abdomen/contrast in 3 days. The contrast started burning my abdomen so I just let the nurse know. She came back. More Zofran, 2 mg more of Dilaudid. I was discharged home with the likely diagnosis of peptic ulcer. I stayed with the parents since the hospital was close to their home and my husband was probably sleeping because it was after 3 in the morning, so I sent him an E-mail. It took me 45 minutes to type 5 sentences to him. I was so intoxicated from that stuff it wasn't funny. The nurse told me it's just one step below Fentanyl and it's more powerful than morphine.
Anyway, if ya get a chance, please drop a quick line in this post or send me an E-mail and I'll get back to ya. I miss chatting with ya but I'm putting everything I can into my new job and I'm so happy to be back to doing op reports but I'm out of practice so I'm working with my Stedman's Skillbuilders for Op reports books and up to no good as usual, with tea parties, the 912 project, taking care of my babies (the pugs) and just loving the warm weather.
You're all in my prayers and I miss ya. I'll stop back.
Love,
Tammy
