What do you guys usually do when there is no work during your shift? sm - shortcake

I've been checking every 10 to 15 minutes for the past 2.5 hours with only 1 report during that time.  Of course I punched out.  I do not like spending my day this way and it is foolish to be doing this and not getting paid.  It's also difficult to work after my shift on some days as I have other commitments and also a family to take care of.  It's stressful enough not having work and earning money but I get so stressed with feeling like I have to sit here and keep checking and making up this time, which I don't have time to do!!!  Just wonder what the rest of you do.

I do the same you do. It is extremely hard to make up work after my shift. My CCM indicated people were being moved to different accounts to it should get better with less people in my region, but not sure when that will start to happen.

is not getting me any!! I emailed CCM but never get straight answers, only that it is slow across the board and to check later. Well I can't check later, and even so, wouldn't I be taking work from others after my shift should be over? It's crazy to have to deal with this when we have to adhere so strictly to our schedules. Flexibility should go both ways...

I almost always opt to make up the time on the weekends but it's hard to make up tons of hours of my work week on Saturday when the pay period ends.

When I run out of weekend before I run out of hours to make up, I use PTO from my account. I HAVE to do this because I'm a single mom and there is no way I can afford to lose the income. However, because I have to do this almost every single pay period, I literally have less than 1 hour in my PTO account so if I get sick I'm screwed.

used all my PTO too, still no work on weekends either, applied for partial unemployment and drawing that. I'm tired of having to work days I wasn't scheduled because they don't know what they're doing over there and hiring more people than they need.

I will go off and do something, they dont pay me to sit there and check for work...If it isnt too many hours, I dont bother making it up.,,My thing is you were hired for a steady shift, if they dont provide work, it SHOULD be their responsibility to pay you at your hourly..Legally I think they have to,,has anyone ever challenged it? If that were the case, I would sit there all day and check for work..

Also, I thought you could not jump on anytime you want which is what is happening unless is you have been given carte blanche.

Also, I did not think you were allowed to work past your shift hours. I remember when they tried lock out (locking you out from work and logging in outside of shift hours) a couple of times, but that just created headaches for everyone and tripled the work for the CCM.

I got the dreaded NJA now for several Saturdays in a row. I am supposed to be 40 hours and rarely get 30. I have not lost my benefits yet probably due to constant reporting on Remedy. I don't have time to make up time and once called my CCM only to be told that workload would not support ME making up time. Eventually, I just started working past my shift hours once in a while figuring that others are obviously doing it without okaying it with their CCMs or even getting the okay to do it (which is even worse) and taking away my weekend work; so I'll take away their night time work. I am so tired of this!! I have no more PTO left and am currently applying for partial unemployment. An attorney cannot help us because of certain wording in our employment contracts and the law is very vague on "piece" rate employment which is what we do. I would appreciate it very much if those making up time lost during the week would leave our weekends alone as we who are scheduled are "stuck" to our computers, work or no work, whereas those not scheduled can come and go as they please. If others would stop taking money out of my pocket, I will stop taking out of theirs. I know this all sounds angry, but we have to look out for each other as our CCMs and above are obviously not. I feel guilty every time I work any unscheduled times so I do it only a couple hours a month as I am thinking about the possibility of literally taking food out of someone's child's mouth every time I do it; yet, I have to eat too. It would be nice if others would just keep in mind that, if they run out of work frequently, so do others and we all need the work and stop taking my work EVERY weekend.

I am only working half of my hours because of no work, so I am collecting partial unemployment as well. I am not working opposite shifts just because they want me to. Provide me work, or let me go! This is ridiculous.

I will not do it. NO other job would they expect you to sit and wait for work and NOT GET PAID. You are still performing work by WAITING FOR WORK. I have brought this to an attorney, along with the demographics we do not get paid for. This is so silly, even the attorney thought I was nuts.

First of all, MModal does not make you "sit there and wait for work." You can choose to make up time when there is work available, use PTO, or be released with no pay. So, I am not sure that would stand up.

However, I am interested in hearing about all the things we do and not get paid for, like cc's and ADT info, the heading list. I also think that we should be compensated at an hourly rate for any downtime for research only because we used to be able to utilize the QA department and not spend our time looking up these things and could get feedback and learn. Now, we are penalized for sending to QA. Also, being forced to use report look up "per the first time right rules" or be docked in pay. This takes so much time, and especially looking for a certain OP note, etc., and then never find what you are looking for anyway. They want 99%, and if they could fill in a QA marker, we can be fired, but we are not paid to do the work to get it to that point.

When I first started with MQ over 15 years ago, I was not responsible for ANYTHING in the header page... not dates, not names, nothing. That was up to the clerk who did that at an hourly wage.

too much crap for what we are being paid. I thought it was bad, really, really bad when I worked for MQ a few years back but this First Time Right is so unfair. I feel like a child constantly being "punished." I have always referenced extensively prior to leaving a blank, always have. I was actually told by QA not to spend so much time. Listen 3 times, do not spend more than a couple minutes referencing, if you cannot understand or find it, leave a blank. Now we are almost forced to guess or "pay" for it. I have to guess that whoever comes up with these stupid rules and punishments never transcribed a report in their lives. I curse the day I ended up back here.

WE HAVE HARDLY ANY WORK at Mmodal.  Quite a few of us have $70.00 paychecks for a 2 week period which does not pay for the electric or cable bills.  Mmodal says it is slow because of the holidays...  Oh really, well holidays do not run for 3 months in a row.  I have dictators stating the hospital beds are full and ER wait time for patients are over 6 hours because of too many patients being seen.  Yet, Mmodal says we are slow and have low volume because of the holidays. ...
