OK, I'm a little late to the Basher's Ball here but, geez, this sucks!!  So, bear with me, I need to vent!!!  

PTO, hmm, there was a time when a loyal employee who stuck it out with the company through cuts and low work was rewarded by increased PTO for time with the company.  I guess we can add loyalty to the list of things that companies now punish you for thus creating a society of workers who are losing sight of what the word loyalty means.   

I saw only one thing here that benefits me and that is getting paid by the line instead of report as I have an account in fluency that creates loooong reports and have always felt cheated a bit and struggled to get my 12 rph when working only that account for a day.  I think this is only Phase I of switching all RAD to lph versus rph.  I assume they are using this as a test to see if the company comes out a winner.  If so, then in about 3 months (which seems to be their habit so far) we will probably see other RAD programs/accounts being switched to line pay then, once all accounts are switched, RAD MTs will be held to the current MED MT lph requirements.  

The thing that really got me going though is the new pay rate...industry standard my behind!  I've noticed in job searches that many are offering $0.09 per line straight and $0.05 to $0.06 per line SR for those like me with experience.  Also, based on the current rates MM RAD MTs get, I did the math.  $1.20 straight with MMs crediting us with 12 lines per report comes out to $0.10 per line.  $0.72 SR with MMs credit of 12 lines per report comes out to $0.06 per line.  Hmmm, $0.10 and $0.06 is definitely better than the $0.08 and $0.048 we will soon be getting.  Great, a pay cut and a huge one which, when compared with the MED MT tiers takes us from the equivalent of a Tier III to a Tier I.  Since RAD is a specialty, we should definitely NOT be equivalent to Tier I (although I always thought equivalent to Tier III was a bit much but Tier I)......that's a slap in the face and too large of a cut.  

So, to sum up, their lph/rph requirement to keep your job has been raised to what I consider above the industry standard but your pay for doing so is being lowered to below industry standard.  MM leaders need to go back to school and take the math courses they obviously skipped or slept through.  Oh yeah, a business ethics course would help provided they actually learn something AND apply it.  

Just so you all know, I am not angry for me as I don't depend solely on this job for money to live but I used to and I am truly scared and angry for my lovely co-workers who do depend on the money from MM to survive.  I doubt I will find anything, but I am keeping track of all these changes MM is making and feel its time for me to check with my State's labor board to make sure these changes are legal/acceptable.  If not, guess I'll be askin my Labor Board to help me put things back on course or get some $$$ from MM for not following the rules.  I'm just so fed up right now I wanna go over there and spend about a week straight just verbally ripping our higher ups a new one!!!!  Not that that would help but it would sure make me feel way better.  Good luck to all of you and I pray you all find someplace better than MM real soon as I don't see this company changing for our good anytime soon.

MModal would have laid off the full-timers and kept part-timers, just like Papa Johns did so he did not have to worry about paying benefits and getting a fine if he did not provide them. With MModal everything is about more money in the executives pockets. Even the way they average our line counts stinks. I type fast and have crap for lines.

with the uncertainty and changes to the medical field in general with obamacare, they are trying to hoard as much money as they can due to uncertainty. Obamacare has cost us higher taxes, higer insurance rates, etc. and it will continue to rise.

could not agree more on the lph/rate. We will soon be in the same category as all other MTs making low stinky pay. If I had to rely on this job as the sole provider, not even sure it would be feasible. But hey, I figured transcription would be out the door 3 years ago...I tried getting fired, but they gave me my job back, lol.

rad mts - will not be popular for my opinion

I do both medical records and radiology. I think rad transcriptions are overpaid compared to medical records. How come someone who just does radiology cannot do medical records but someone who can do medical records can do radiology without any special training?

I feel the transcriptionists who do op notes, discharge summaries, consults, etc should make twice as much as rad transcriptionits. Why, because we have to know much, much more than a radiology transcriptionist does. And we also have to do specialties. Where I work you have your transcriptionists who can't do anything but radiology so when medical records is behind they pull me from radiology to help out with medical records, and I lose money. The excuse I keep getting is rad transcriptionists don't know the medicines or a lot of the medical terminology so they can't transition. That is a fact, I have seen it time and time again. I even tried training radiology transcriptionists in medical records and they threatened to quit first. Radiology is easy and basically a no-brainer. Only reason rad transcriptionists make so much is because radiology is a big money maker for a hospital while medical records is not. So if I understood you right with MM you will be now making 10 cents per line for straight typing? If that is right then medical records should be making at least twice that rate for all the extra crap we have to know.

I have my helmet on so come on with the attacks. I am ready and will stand by what I said.

They took my PTO away years ago - and now it pisses me off that some people have been getting it while others haven't. It doesn't really matter now because I was part time and let go last month after 9 years with NO write ups or problems ever. If I were full-time I would start looking. They are trying to clean house big time. They are management top heavy and stupidly it looks like they are getting rid of the ones that make the money!

The reality is the weekend incentives always cause work to run out on primary accounts the first day, making it difficult or in some cases impossible to even get your required lines in on unfamiliar accounts, not to mention the threat of losing money by sending more to QA on accounts that don't allow blanks sent to the customer.
