Sitting here hoping the phone doesn't ring. I personally think that in a year there will be no more US MT's, maybe shorter than that.

I wouldn't wish this feeling on anyone. I am single, I work paycheck to paycheck, I have a child, and I wonder how I'm going to feed him and keep my utilities from being shut off. If we had just had some sort of warning other than the lies that it was going to get better... hang in there, they kept saying. Well this is definitely not better. Maybe for the ones who got to keep their jobs, but I can't imaging things being any worse right now.

I will check on TAA. Not sure what that is but thank you for the advice. I will definitely check it out. In the end it may be that MModal did me a favor but right now it doesn't feel like it.

What is happing is very forboding. I do not hold out much hope anymore for US MTs. I am afraid that all that will be left are US MMEs to clean up the Indans' work. Time for me to jump ship I think. This one is sinking fast.

My CCM just called to let me know Medquist fired her. She was the best CCM I have ever had with the company (in terms of calling back, answering emails, etc.) and no doubt that is why the laid her off. I have been looking for another job and now will be looking all the harder. Medquist is shooting themselves in the foot and I hope it hurts! ...

Really discouraged. Just laid off from job of 7-1/2 years with a voicemail. Nice. Have taken several tests, the last of which said I wasn't skilled enough for them (after 26 years?). Got a job but terrible hours and not good reviews on company. To be truthful, I'm not even sure I want to do this anymore. We certainly don't make the money we used to so why I am working 7p.m. to 3 a.m. after all this time? ...

After trying to have enough work today, barely having it, my stomach is in knots. As a single mother I cannot function any longer with the burning in my stomach from this place. Earlier this week, my employer was forced to lay off MTs. What a concept -- only keeping enough employees for the amount of work coming in. I have worked for other less considerate employers who don't care whether or not we have to sit and wait and scrape and beg for work, (MQ, FN), and this really blows my mind. I have posted on here many times about putting in requests to have doctors removed from ASR and have been told it doesn't do any good. Apparently some people are listening. I was told that they are flooded with requests now and it is taking a little longer to get to my requests reviewed. I was looking over already transcribed reports by others to check on a medication and came across a mistake that really makes us look foolish and is something, IMHO, that any transcriptionist would know and this doctor speaks good English. apparently I was only employed by Nuance thru last December. Starting in January I was employed by Transcend. This is as per the state unemployment benefits office. They were really interested that my check stubs said Transcend/DBA as Nuance out of Mass., and the W2s only had Transcend out of Melbourne, Florida.
