that we cannot send reports with more than 3 blanks through on TWO of the accounts I work on. 

Right now, I have one of the worst dictators on one of those accounts.  She is ESL and she whispers.  To top it off, someone is standing very close to her running a VACUUM CLEANER.

I CAN'T HEAR her because she is whispering and the vacuum is running.  So, yay me.  I will probably have more than 3 blanks because of all this and will have to send it to QA even though they probably won't be able to fill them in either.

I hate this place.

What they are doing is mandating that you are penalized for something out of your control, necessitating a likely salary decrease if there are too many documents sent to QA in their estimation. This is not your fault, but they are forcing you to submit to their mandate. You will need records like these to prove your case for unemployment insurance and enrollment in TAA should that time come.

If this kind of nonsense is going to cause a cut in your pay, I would e-mail my CCM with the job number and throw it back in the pool. And I would suggest that the next MT who gets this report or one like it do the same.

In my e-mail (or better yet, phone call) I would spell out exactly WHY I was throwing it back and strongly suggest they pull that report to listen to it themselves and see what they would do.

They have put your back against the wall and now it's time to fight back.

I was talking to a friend of mine, who has a government job, this weekend. I told him of some of what we have to deal with in this company. He said if it were government-run, all that stuff would be illegal. Why the double standard? Because they can.

I would mention to my CCM when I was explaining why I was throwing the report back that I could not in all good conscience try to guess at what the whispering ESL resident was trying to say and that someone needs to educate the residents as to the proper way and, although it should go without saying, WHERE to dictate...like NOT around a vacuum cleaner!

If the residents miraculously find that we correctly decipher their mumbled, garbled reports, why would they ever bother to dictate clearly? Since they are residents, there is still hope (though small) that they can learn better habits.

I actually wanted to cry when the report first started. Then I got mad about it and stressed and though I needed a Xanax. I actually counted to 10 so I wouldn't throw something at my computer (it's my PC, so I don't want to break it).

I didn't throw it back in the pool, however, because I don't want someone else to have to suffer through it. Maybe I'm too nice, but I wouldn't want someone to do that to me either.

I'm halfway through it now (It's taking forever and it's a very long report), and the vacuum just turned off. I keep expecting it to come back on at any moment, though.

I gave my CCM the job number and asked her to pull it and listen to it. I cc'd the QATL and asked her to do the same.

The CCM said the 2 facilities keep sending back reports with more than 3 blanks to our QATL to fix. In my email, I stated that the facilities should get the idea that it is their dictators who have the problem and not the MTs. I guarantee you the reports with the most blanks are coming from the same dictators. There are a few who are just horrendous. They are also getting a lot of blanks because of the atrocious sound quality that some of the recordings have with tons of static.

WE should not be penalized because these people can't string together a coherent sentence and can't speak English, and we certainly shouldn't be penalized because of the crap audio either.

You can't win with this company, no matter what you do.

As a recipient of at least 2 jobs thrown back just today, I thank you for not doing that. Are you not punished/reprimanded for "cherry picking" when you do that? If it sucks for you, it's gonna suck for me, so I thank you for not doing that & applaud you for @ least trying to tell your super. Did you get a response?

The hospital should be made aware, and the doctor should be made to re-dictate the entire report, if for no other reason than risk management on the hospital's part.

If a doctor can learn how to sew up a blood vessel the size of the head on a pin, they can learn to dictate clearer reports. But someone has to make them do it.

Personally, I would continue sending the blanks, no matter how many. I would also send my CCM an email telling her that unless they stop punishing me for bad dictators, I will continue sending them and they need to let the client know that if we cannot hear them, we have to leave blanks and they need to let their dictators know that. Just me, but that is what I would do. I'm not losing pay for someone else's problem.

Believe it or not we got an e-mail from one CCM who stated we should not have any blanks. We had a good group of doctors and we should be able to figure anything out. We all know when we were working inhouse that we would listen many, many times and the person next to us could figure it out immediately. That is the way it goes. That CCM was leaving to go back as MT. I wish I would have asked her if she EVER had a blank. We are not machines. We are human!

says that the CCMs and RTLs are very aware of who the repeat offenders are, that is the bad ESL, dictators who mumble, whisper or have no choice but to dictate in a loud OR or either don't care or oblivious to the background noise. They have stats on those repeat offenders, but she also said they can tell which MTs don't even try to get the blanks, too. My CCM was an MT years ago so she really understands our predicament.

However, these 2 accounts have a few dictators that are completely HORRIBLE. If it's not them being horrible alone, there are also sound quality issues.

I don't feel that it is proper for us to be penalized (3c a line docked) for being forced to send reports with more than 3 lines to QA.

I know my CCM must know who these offenders are, so why the mandate?

It sucks.

Slightly paranoid about being audited now since I'm reporting NJA instead of working 24/7.  It's amazing just how many reminder emails we get and how many minute details for each account.  I'm forwarding to my email to have just in case I'm ever managed out and need to defend myself along with the good and sometimes bad audits I've had.  I'm human.  Don't make huge amount of errors, but definitely not perfect...   ...

Just recently our QC sent out an email to an MT in our group for a HIPAA error and blind copied all the MT/MME in the BOB.  This poor MT would never have known unless others came forward and reported that they got this email in error. Make sure that if you get an email it is only coming to you.  I really hope she files a complaint with HR for shaming her in front of her peers.  Don't look, don't share apparently does not apply to anyone other than MT/MME. ...

Does anyone else get XXX emails in their MQCentral email. I started getting it about 2 months ago and now everyday when I got in my email, I have at least 3 of emails to delete. I have accidentally deleted important emails because of this. I called support when it first happened as I saw it as a HIPPA infraction as I had assumed that MQCentral was a secure website. He told me that someone with my Medquist email address in their computer looks as these sites and that is how I've been getting ...
