I have to say, I never really believed everyone on this board when they were saying they are trying to get rid of the high-producing employees, etc, but I am now seeing it in action. Believe every word you have read here. I NEVER thought it would happen to be me, been with Medquist (or some company snapped up by it) for over 10 years. I have now failed my second audit in a row. It is almost like they just searched and searched for reports until they found ones they could nitpick enough to get a score below 98%. It is obvious what is happening. Things that were right before are now wrong, it all depends on who is the QA. I am beyond done with this place and will start looking for an alternative job TODAY.

Sorry for the rant I am just so mad right now and disgusted by this company's practices. We are nothing but worker bees to them and if we start doing too well for ourselves we are done.

I had another thought, is it possible that our fellow employees in India are passing with 98% audits or are they just not audited?

Question, can I receive unemployement if let go by them for failed audits?

I would copy your previous QA scores and current ones and print them off.

Also, I would think that just due to the fact that you have been here over 10 years and just suddenly your work is not up to par is going to be a red flag that this is not something you have done, couple that with the fact that a petition number was already given for MQ for lay-offs, I would think any individual could read between the lines and see what is going on here.

Are you at a significant pay scale? I also have been here over 10 years and did not pass my last audit. Very worried. I am told I am at the top of pay.

I am terrified because I have been bouncing around to different accounts and had a lot of hard dictators this week.

Partial Unemployment - SadMT

In some states you can get Partial Unemployment. If there is no work they will make up the difference. You report each week what you made and if it is under because of no work they will send you a check. There are particulars, like how much you make a week etc. but worth checking out, and then if you do get let go, you are in the system already. Also if you are denied APPEAL it. With all the ammo we have one could very well win an appeal. It does take time to appeal, but the check is retroactive. Just trying to help.

I completely agree with you. I cannot do the hours they want me to do. Lockdown starts the April 7 in SA5 region. I have asked to change the schedule by an hour or 2 and they will not. I work to wee hours in the morning and can no longer do it even if it is a minimum wage job. I am now having high BP and anxiety and on 4 different pills and doctor says it is my career and need a new one.

I say it is a blessing in disguise for you. I literally drove like a mad man 2 weeks ago and signed up for some spring classes. I am 43. I have never seen so many people in a community college. The parking lot is a zoo. About 20 years ago less than half were in college. So many people were standing in line yesterday getting books and it was a 45 minute wait to purchase books. Average age in college is 38 and they had federal money to purchase the books and pay for schooling.

So MY ADVICE? If you get let go, you immediately apply for unemployment. I heard that some of the unemployment pay was better than receiving minimum wage and working. Also then you are able to apply for TAA and ask unemployment office about going back to school and changing careers and your college is paid for. My college tuition is 73.00 a credit hour out of my pocket and the darn book I purchased was 60.00. YIKES! That was a lot of money.

I cannot stand MQ and what they are doing. You my dear, MEDQUIST DOES NOT DESERVE YOU! You tell unemployment you have been with them for 10 years, worked hard and now they do these audits which are nearly impossible to pass and you believe they are trying to get rid of so many employees and I am sure it will work out for the best for you in the long run.

I would do all that except for the fact that I am primary breadwinner right now as my husband finishes his Bacheolor's degree, finishes this time next year. We just need to hold on one more year and hopefully he will find job with degree (had his own business for 10 years, but lost too many customers so decided to go back to school). When he is done it can be my turn, but right now I have to be the money-maker. I already work another part-time job during school year, so really would like to find another transcription job for a while. I am 40 and just feel like I have wasted so much time working for this PIECE OF ____ company. I work the worst of the worst hours, early a.m, evening, one overnight, it could not get much worse as far as hours go and weekends too.

I will start sending out resumes this week in the hopes of findings something to get me by for the next year in case I should fail the next few audits and get let go. I am NOT quitting. They can audit me to death and let me go.

I also refuse to quit and they will pay me unemployment while I collect my berings and find another job.

I have an ulcer and severe heartburn over all of this junk. I don't understand why they have to play these games... just fire people, lay them off, do whatever they have to do to give our work away, but these constant games!!! UGH.

I was told by the unemployment office that if I got fired then that automatically disqualified me for TAA but I could get unemployment. You need to make sure you know what you are talking about before giving people advice on this. I called and asked this very specific question and was told NO on TAA if fired.

I have to show proof of NO JOBS AVAILABLE and the pay cuts over the years and how I have been with this company since 1988 and now they decide to fire me? Because of an audit and saying my work is bad after 20 years with this same company? Something is very fishy! Also had no raise in 10 years? I was told it didn't matter what state. TAA is the same no matter what state you live in. When you actually get approved and started drawing from TAA come back and let us know.

Apparently always passed audits with 98% or above -- never heard otherwise. Anything I send to QA now comes back "audited" automatically which puts it below 98%. Smells stinky to me.

I put the correct info in, the client facility number, etc, and it will begin to load, and then slowly, I will get 1 green bar, 2 green bars (over the course of several minutes, now 5 to be exact) and it will just lock up there....I have NO time to wait for it to load.... I've read in quite a few posts here that one of the ways to speed up your editing process is to read ahead of the highlighter. I've also read that some people read up to a whole sentence ahead. I cannot believe that people do this. What if the doctor says something that you didn't catch? Have you ever noticed than when a dictator tries to adopt a "conversational" style of dictating, that it is very hard to try and figure out what's being said? They start and stop several times so that you can't remember what the original line of dictation was, plus they add "you know" every other sentence. I DON'T KNOW!!!!! For the hours I worked yesterday, I earned a total of $48!!! The breakdown was 60% ASR and 40% typing,and out of 3 jobs I get paid for typing, 2 of them were ASR jobs that I had to F11!!!!
