File for unemployment if you have no work on your accounts - during your scheduled work time.

As the work we were hired to do, to help make this company millions, goes global, we the MTs are left scrabbling to find enough work to survive on. There is not enough work for all of us, and the company does not care.

If you have no work on your accounts during your regular work schedule, file for unemployment. I recently did this. When my Unemployment office contacted this company's HR, the HR contacted my supervisor, my supervisor asked me why I filed, I told her why, she said I was not eligible, I said okay, and 5 days later my check for 2 days' worth came in the mail.

Tell your unemployment office you have no work on your accounts. Tell them why.

But why will HR contact supervisor?

Will this put a bullseye on me for "bad audits" suddenly?

I did not hear any more after I received my unemployment. - HR will ask the supe to find out why, is my guess.

The OP is right. File if you have no work. I did and got partial unemployment (Texas). Was moved to a new area & have not run out of work since, except for maybe 5-10 minutes but this rare.

Was told by my state UI office - Beans and Rice MT

I could collect partial unemployment if I made below what my maximum benefit would be per week. I'm in Missouri and was told that the maximum UI benefit is a paltry $327 per week. So I guess you should check with your state, but if you make less than your state's maximum benefit, you can collect partial UI to make up the difference.

out of work almost daily since being bought by MQ. I have a few things in the works with plans to leave MQ and the MT field altogether as soon as I start seeing the impending changes start to occur, which we all know they will and it won't be pretty. I believe MQ sets their MTs up for failure and as an adult, it's pathetic to be punished for needing help or not being a mind reader or fortune teller. I also don't know how a company can demand strict adherence with our schedules punching in and out through our shifts when work runs out, BUT not paying us for our time. Unless I'm missing something and we get paid when there is no work but I have not been fortunate enough to see anything in my last 2 checks from MQ. I just wish they would lay me off already!!! Let me collect unemployment with plenty of time to find something else.....I loved this job before a few weeks ago :(

Kudos to you for making plans for an exit. I too loved my job till the Q acquired Spheris. Spheris wasn't perfect, but my bills got paid and there was GOOD OT available a lot of the time. Then the Q gobbled us up, and after that it was nothing but pay cuts, loss of benefits (bonuses, Internet reimbursement) culuminating in my account "going away" Poof the last Monday I worked. Fortunately, I had something lined up, and they were just waiting for my answer. So I disappeared too....with a 2-day notice! I'm no longer an MT, and some days I really miss working from home, but I'm treated and paid a fair wage by new employer. So sad when I hear of MTs making starvation wages and being treated the way they are. I just can't figure how the Q gets away with it. Guess they plan to starve out anyone who is making more than minimum!

Be very careful when doing this. Before you do, please check with your state's unemployment office as not all states are the same with respect to how they pay unemployment.

As an example, I was without work for several months and applied for unemployment. I finally landed a job and, as I was supposed to do, I contacted the unemployment office. It so happens that there was quite an interval time before I actually worked for and drew a paycheck from the company, but the unemployment office considered the fact that I had ACCEPTED a job, regardless of whether I had actually EARNED WAGES YET. I, therefore, now owe the state unemployment office 2 weeks' worth of unemployment because the "overpaid" me.

I am not dissing your efforts to bring in income of some sort or bring it to the attention of the MTSO that you need to work, but because of the transient nature of the out of work situations, it might be a legal nightmare to draw unemployment on a very sporadic basis.

When drawing "partial" UEB, most states will require you just to report your weekly earnings. You will receive the difference of what your unemployment benefit check is and what you made working.

Totally different situation than what old lady went through with a new employer.

I would draw anything and everything I could if I were in the shoes of a lot of you.

Of course if the work is from 17 different accounts and you can't become familiar with them and then they keep changing said accounts....your pay is going to plummet...yet they are STILL providing you with work....then no unemployment........I WISH they'd have no work for me.....but I'm making half of what I used to, no NJA, just a cesspool of crappy, unfamiliar work that is too "difficult" for the ILPs.

I have been fortunate to have had work since the inception of TeamWork, and no longer know the procedure for filing a NJA report. Do we do as before and contact support for a ticket number, then send an email to them with a copy to our CCM, or do we have to do something in TeamWork? Norton is removing a file that is downloaded on opening ChartNet called mtvclient.exe. A Google search has two pages of comments treating this like a virus or spyware. I need to listen to some jobs...I did Alt I from the Fluency Editor home screen to get to Manager. I looked up the jobs by searching under detail and the date. I found the job and clicked on the job #, which gave me options of audio file, editor account output, and count log file (payroll). I currently use GearPlayer, and with one of my clients this is required for downloading voice files and uploading completed documents, therefore cannot get rid of it. GearPlayer is fine for my other accounts as those voice files come via email and FTP and I save them to my system and they open and play on GP just fine. My issue now is if I want to apply with a company who requires ByteScribe or ExpressScribe - or any other player, those are just the two that I am looking at presently - c ...

I can load it into the dock, but it says there are 0 minutes of dictation. If I play it on Windows Media, it says I need a codec. I don't know what that is. Keep track of Emails, time you punched in and out and when there was no work. File for UE on line. In most states, almost all of us are eligible for unemployment and considered underemployed.
