at what point do you file - for partial UE?

I wonder if I'm at that point. I have not had a huge reduction in work, but about 8 hours a week now. I've been taking some unpaid time and using PTO. I think tomorrow I'm going to go to the UE office and talk to them about the TAA assistance.

With the 4th holiday coming, work is going to come to a screeching halt. At least you will get it approved before you have no work for half or more of your weekly hours.

I hope I don't drive over there and just waste my time and have them tell me I don't qualify. I don't even care so much about UE benefits, but I'd sure like to get some money for retraining.

I just mean that you are only 8 hours short this week, so whe you file unemployment, many states have a one week wait period. So, if you file this week, you won't get an unemployment check for this week, but next week you will provided you don't get your full hours in, which I doubt you will because of the holiday. I'm not good at explaining things.

Unemployment does not care as long as you did not refuse work. You were there, ready and willing to work and you did not have any.

You were hired for a shift. If they cannot provide you work, they either have to offer you another shift, and if you deny, they can probably fire you. However, you might still qualify for UE even then because you were hired for a certain shift.

You will have to ask UE all the details. I have never had a problem and I have collected UE 3 separate times in the 10 years I have been here.

I'm so confused - TAA

I wish I could talk to someone on the phone instead of having to go over there where I will probably spend half a day and then be told I don't qualify for anything. I know there was one person on here who did manage to get TAA assistance. I can't remember her handle.

When I do call my local office, I get a recording that says they are busy and please look at the website. When I look at the website, there is a link for a form to fill out for trade readjustment allowance, but I'd really like to talk to someone before I fill it out and send it.

I do think there is a link on the website to apply for partial unemployment, but I figure if I have to physically go to the office to find out about the TAA, I might as well do it all at one time in person.

Also, when I go to the TAA website, that appears to be applying for a petition. We already have a petition. When I poked around there a little more to find out what to do if one already has a petition, guess what? It said visit my local office.

the TAA website and find the contact information for your region. I would call them and talk to them. I posted a link earlier to the map you click on, but I don't see my post. Maybe I did something wrong. Anyway, I didn't apply online because everybody said they were being denied that way, so I talked to someone and got it going. Of course when I was trying, nobody in the TAA office was familiar with our case where many of us are still working but qualify. They were telling everybody they have to be laid off. I think the word is out now, so I would call and talk to somebody there. There are phone numbers for different regions on their website. There are different ways they can help, with schooling, help with insurance, helping to match your wages if you find a job making less, helping an employer with your wages if they hire you (the last two have to qualify, though I'm not sure what qualifies). If you go to school, you will get your unemployment/TAA pay throughout that time, and you are exempt from looking for work. If you are still working for MModal, I believe you have to keep working there, though I have gotten different stories on that. Anyway, I would call and talk to someone.

I'm starting school in the fall, though I would rather find a job. I keep looking and if something comes up, I won't go to school.

We could have gotten this from United HealthGroup, but not 1 other MT of the 10 who were let go would respond.

Fluency "upgrade" is. I worked 4.5 hours yesterday and did over 1400 lines! Typed 95 reports. If I apply myself I can make good money. I just need to stop doing other things when I should be working....I should be doing between 1500 and 2000 lines a day the way I look at it. Far above the 1200 a day minimum. Hmmm, well guess I better get to work (LOL)....Lord help me! ...

So much ire and angst pointed at MTSOs. I even read where the TAT is a marketing ploy :) It helps to remember that we're all in the same boat and for the same reasons, to support ourselves. With 30 years of experience over many platforms (16 of which are from home), what is the point of applying to any of these companies? They are few and far between. They certainly do not want to pay anyone what they are worth (since they can just outsource on the cheap)... I just looked at my review for March and I see all these 0.5 deductions for "blank filled in by reviewer." There are also Valid Blanks that take off no points. Sorry if this has been asked but did they say they were going to do this? And if so, when? Also, I listened to these blanks. PA MT and others -- I have recently started for a company, where I am transcribing as well as doing QA/Management. Getting paid hourly for one and salary for the other.
