Does anybody check their feedback anymore? - Why do I bother

I'm kind of getting tired of the same people making the same mistakes over and over again even after I leave feedback. I make sure to copy and paste the rules out of the client profile, DQS Standards, and BOS2, so that they know I'm not blowing smoke or on a power trip. I don't mess with commas or the like. What I fix is stuff that will fail an audit. Really, I'm not trying to be mean or nitpick; I just want the US MTs to look good by passing their audits, both client-side audits and MModal audits. I don't leave feedback for the ILPs because they shouldn't be typing our reports anyway and they can fend for themselves.

I have wondered the exact same thing. If someone were to have their reports QA'ed by me, if they checked their feedback they might see that I have a positive comment for them - "This was a tough report - nice work!" ... or "Wow, great job, your work is always nicely done". Sometimes, I leave an encouraging comment for those who are "tiering up" because I've been in their shoes and I know it's tough to have your work watched so closely.

I don't worry about commas unless it changes the context of the dictation, but I usually just add or remove without a comment, and I understand that a lot of "corrections" can be contextual and everyone has their own style of work.

BUT I also leave notes like, "Be careful here because this could really cost you points on an audit".

Seriously, if you're not reading your comments, you should. Sometimes there are MMEs who truly do care about teaching and WANT to see you succeed and do well on your audits. I'm not out to get you and I don't nitpick. We are all in this together and I really want to help. In my own personal edits and comments, I hope that always comes across.

I don't care any more. I haven't been audited in months because my work, with all the blanks, is better than 99% of what they are getting on these crummy accounts. If the work I'm doing is not good enough for them, they are welcome to fire me but I'm not spending any more time on unpaid activities. When a doctor dictates an addendum that is one line, enters the wrong work type, the wrong patient number and wants 3 copies why should I care what the CP says? I'm earning about 5 cents to do all this. How hard am I supposed to work to earn a nickel?

I always appreciate the comment and, in fact, I usually check to see who did the QA and have emiled that person to thank them for the feedback and their help.

I adopted a protective stance and quit reading feedback. It was way too confusing and upsetting, and then I had no one to discuss it with. Particularly confusing are those reports that have nitpicking throughout, corrections that contradict BOS or client specs, and then a comment about "nice job." I realized it would be a waste of my time to argue, so if it's not an audit, i ignore it.

I must have the MME on a power trip. I get everything marked wrong! I get a sentence I typed marked highlighted in green and then redone the exact same, in addition to overkill comma fixin.

If it doesn't look like there is any change in the text, maybe they fixed some sort of spacing (to many or not enough).

The reason a whole chunk is green is because we just click and drag to highlight the test we want to edit and sometimes it's easier to highlight a big chunk if there is more than 1 error rather than just highlighting every little error every few words. We aren't actually retying the whole thing even though it looks like that's what we did.

It is just the entire sentence highlighted in green and then the same exact sentence retyped next to it.

So, why would this happen for no errors?

This takes precious time away from the MME in doing this. It really cannot be done by accident. Unless she was going to change something and doesn't know how to undo the feedback marker.

Sometimes it would just be a word highlighted green and then exactly the same. No corrections. I figured they had to touch it in some way to get paid for it?

If the report comes to us, we get paid for it - No editing necessary

We get paid for whatever comes our way. An MME can upload a report without even looking at it and still get paid, but I'm positive they monitor that since every report keeps a behind-the-scenes record of every change made to it and how long it was worked on.

Dear MT sees this often, and often the error (that ISN'T being shown) is listed as "spacing". As her IT hero, I am pretty sure that just adding the green color and the Strikethrough is somehow automagicly removing extra spaces.

I always read my feedback. I have some wonderful QA folks on my accounts who always leave me notes and suggestions, if needed. Hey, any help is appreciated and if they take the time to do it, I can surely take the time to read it.

- It rarely has any helpful information.
- Usually there is nothing to read.
- Too many times QA on 1 document contradicts QA on another document, so, no matter what I do, it's "corrected".
- I don't always agree with what they have changed because I didn't hear it that way or didn't even hear it at all.
- With blanks, at times, it seems they just looked at some old report by that doctor and decided that's what the doctor said - whether or not it is audible.
- I left a blank for a lab value that is not possible and/or does not match the diagnosis and other findings, but they fill it in anyways with that value that is 99% most likely wrong.
- The MME changed the formatting which is against the client profile, and then I have to spend the time emailing the QA manager about the error and the document information.
- Then there are the corrections that are just plain wrong regarding nomenclature and/or correcting to how the doctor spelled something which was spelled wrong or filled in a drug phonetically that doesn't not even exist according to drug search sites and a Google search.

About 0.05% of the time do I actually find anything useful, and most times no comment. I certainly would like useful feedback like you give, but most of my experience with MMEs is not with a proper MME like you sound to be.

I've had both good and extremely bad experiences with feedback. I had a "comma queen" that I finally told my CCM if she/he didn't quit with all the nit-picking I was going to file a complaint against that person. I would send a report with 1 or 2 blanks, and it would come back with 26-30+ "corrections"....including crap like expanding "chemo" to "chemotherapy". Once I let them know I was going to file a complaint, it stopped.

I complained and the quality coach said that she was new and just learning and didnt want to mess up. I could not do anything right, like you said, 30 corrections per report!!! All of a sudden, it stopped, out of no where, so it must be you that made it stop.

Not sure it was me that stopped it, I only know it stopped happening to me from this MME. But if I did have something to do with it stopping for you...you are very welcome! Sure does sound like the same MME tho.

made me cry some days. I tried and tried to please her to no avail. Some days I just got mad and complained. The CCM said she would talk to her. Nothing changed. I was truly ready to quit because of it, and then she disappeared. I never asked if she left Q or got transferred somewhere else. I was just happy. I finally quit reading my QA stuff. I had a hundred of them or so I just never opened. She was a trip.

If your quality metrics expectations weren't set so humanly-impossible-to-achieve high and you weren't so nit-picky about simple, insignificant errors then maybe we wouldn't have so many accounts on the "consecutive audit failure" list. I'm wondering if I should just stop contributing at all. I have had it..The past 2 paychecks I made approximately $200.00 less..constantly getting work I have never done before from hospitals I have never done because there is no work in my hospitals, constantly having to run searches in DoQManage for reports because I have never done those hospitals before..then we are told there is a certain amount of lines/hour we have to do..there is NOT enough time in an hour to do all this plus transcribe.
