Also, any of you working for MQ, there is an AHDI meeting May 8th in Eugene, OR.  I AM GOING.  I am so curious to hear what they have to say and I might not be able to keep my mouth shut and they might not like some of the questions I will have for them.  If anyone else is thinking of going, please email me.

Getting To Know You
JAY VANCE

Phoenix Rising Presenter

Topic:  "Sense & Sensibility: Successful Social Networking Strategies"

Jay Vance has been active in the medical transcription and health information technology fields in a variety of capacities since 1999. He is a Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) and works as a technology product specialist for Superior Global Solutions, Inc. He is also President and CEO of Vance Digital, LLC, a digital technology and HIPAA compliance consulting firm to small MTSOs and independent contractors.

What excites me most about this opportunity is the chance to perhaps show AHDI in a new light, one that illustrates the fact that AHDI is not the Borg Collective or the

Stepford Wives Club.

Well, he would have to list for me the ways that - AHDI stood behind the USA MTs.

[ In Reply To ..]
They have been hand-holding the ILPs hands for years. They have symposiums and membership drives in India and the Philippines all the time. It is not hard to find their little invites on the internet.

They have done nothing for the American MTs, to secure our jobs, to organize us, to keep the medical reports from going out of the country, and to ensure that we are paid fair and decent wages.

They could have organized all of us. But they never were for "us." No wonder they took "American" out of their name.

He can have the AHDI. And they can have him.

For the real medical transcriptionists, the ones out there pounding the keyboards and putting up with all the crap from the MTSOs, and watching the work dry up in front of their eyes, AHDI is a worthless, do-nothing organization.

As far as I am concerned they are not deserving of any of my hard earned money.

They mean absolutely nothing to me.

If memory serves me right, he used to be against AAMT, but then - anony

he changed his mind and became a part of them. Below is site that does make reference to him trying to start another organization, that I guess didn't work out, so then he went to AAMT and decided he liked them after all. Sounds like a politician.

Every QA That I Have Talked To Says They Are Sicking Of QAing And Wished They Could Go Back To MTing

that you find working as QA?  I know I have heard a few say that the MTs apparently do not look at their corrections and continue to make the same mistakes over and over which the QA continues to correct over and over regardless how many times the MT has been told. Who loves QAing and who doesn't.  Why for each? p.s. been asked to be QA, but I am undecided.  ...

Remember When
Apr 23, 2010

Remember when – you were proud to be an MT – proud of the work you did and the physicians said thank you when you did a good job?   How about the bumper sticker years ago from AHDI (AAMT)  that they handed out at one of the conferences that read – MDs need MTs.   After 35 years in this profession, I call it quits.   All of us really just need a "thank you" from time to time to feel appreciated.     I have worked at ho ...

Remember when we used to get that newsletter in the mail?  I found some today as I was packing my stuff.  Remember when they used to pat us on the back now and then? Wonder if they even notice we are dropping like flies. We never hear anything from management unless it's that they are i ...

Can't Even Remember
Jan 11, 2012

You know the weird thing is that even after just 3 years, I cannot even remember the name of the last 2 companies I worked for - I was an independent contractor for the first 15 years and had my own accounts. That's pretty sad when you can't even remember a past employer (or maybe it isn't because you've blocked them from your memory because of the poor pay and constant outsourcing and waiting for them to find you more work). Now that I do remember. If anyone knows who I w ...

You actually looked forward to getting the PA instead of the doctor because they were so much easier to hear, understand, etc., except for the fact that most of them have no clue when it comes to pronouncing medications and feel that it is above them to spell the medication out.  In my case it seems that the roles have flipped nowadays, I absolutely hate seeing the PA coming up and would rather do the doctor any day of the week!!     ...

Fresh out of a local vocational school for MT back in 1993,  I met with an established local MT, who allowed me to do a little of her work (with pay) to see how I would do because she wanted someone to take over on Fridays so she could have that day off.  Within a few months, she partnered with another transcriptionist in town for a separate account and gave me all the work from group that she was doing!  It was 5 docs and 2 NPs.  I did the work at her house on her computer. ...
