Does anyone on here remember working for the old MQ - PAMT

down near Philadelphia and what happened to those people that worked in that office. I would like to know where they are now. This is going back a few years and I cant remember the name of the town but I know it was near Philadelphia.

Back then they were called MRC. They were certainly a lot better back then.

It was bought by Transcriptions Limited which then became MQ. I went from Dictation West, bought by Medical Records Corp, which then was bought by MRC Group and then bought by TL. Then 7 years ago, they closed the offices and sent us all home. The last good company was Medical Records Corp. After that, it all went downhill fast and got worse and worse with each successive buy-out. The Denver office of TL was a pig sty which always had inadequate heat and air-conditioning and bathrooms worthy of a third world country.

The LV office was also not that great. Thank God I was able to work at home. I wonder who the next buyout will be.

It's ancient history now but our move from our old office to the "new" one after TL bought us was a nightmare of giant proportions. Many of us did not want to work at home for various reasons and they made the in-office experience absolutely miserable.

My very first job and then to Medifax who merged with Secrephone and became MRC Group and then bought by Transcription Limited and became Medquist and now MMmodal. :)

I don't know if we're talking about the same place but I started 30 years ago when they were still Transcriptions Ltd in Feasterville. Back in the day when they had a driver that delivered your work in an envelope and left it at your door and picked up your work to go back. And at Christmas they would actually wrap packages and leave them - one year a whole set of pots and pans. And great bonuses - those were the days, I guess.

and they had offices in or near every state capital, maybe 2 offices in a big state like PA, east and west. I remember hearing about the Feasterville office but never did work out of there. My office was Richmond, and we only did large university hospitals, no rinky dink stuff like I have now.

You are right, back then it was not a bad place to work. It's amazing how things can go so downhill in only a few short years. Hopefully everyone from those regional offices has moved on to better things.

based on Vorhees, NJ. I was going to try to get in with them part-time but didn't want to have to make the trip to New Jersey to train, etc. I think the training was done on-site, and then they would send you home. It would have been some travel for me working a full-time job plus Medquist. I am pretty sure it was called Medquist then. I'm talking 20+ years ago.

was very interesting like U of Pa., TJH, etc. No clue where they are now or who got that work. I know it just disappeared and the accounts were lost. Loved university hospitals.

at a big hospital in Colorado. MedQuist was the go to place for getting overflow done. Great representation by the suits and employees keeping us within our contractural turn-around times. A very good company. I believe that MQ lost their way when they started concentrating more on volume and the almighty buck than the people who got them there! Maybe, just maybe, they are finding out that doesn't work if you just throw your employees in a yard with one bone. Disgusting..no HONOR.

I started in 2001 and worked there a couple of months too. What a great office and great bunch of MTs. I really do miss it, and met a wonderful mentor, could not have done it without her.

I did for 10 years and they were a great company,but they have completely gone downhill and now the hospital I am working for is going to use them and I lose another job. Thanks Medquist.

Dangerous abbreviations that are in BOS are not to be observed unless the specific CP says to? I have NEVER operated like this, EVER. I am in coding school (home-based program) and as I read through the coding book, I try to understand all of the rules, etc., about what gets coded first and dual codes, when to use a particular code as a primary diagnosis, etc. However, I find that I remember little of those rules the next day or even later in the day. You actually looked forward to getting the PA instead of the doctor because they were so much easier to hear, understand, etc., except for the fact that most of them have no clue when it comes to pronouncing medications and feel that it is above them to spell the medication out. In my case it seems that the roles have flipped nowadays, I absolutely hate seeing the PA coming up and would rather do the doctor any day of the week!! ...

I sent 1 to QA with 1 blank in it so does it go by that or the number of things they decided were wrong with it, because this person totally picked it apart changed things such as operation done at xxx hosptial to done in xxx hospital, etcetera. Hey all you loyal MQ people who have been here for years (why we do it, I don't know) Remember when....they used to tell MTs DO NOT ENTER S/L in the QA NOTE, because it made QA "think" they would hear that word....well guess what...and this is for the suits and the managers who are looking, and we know you are .....ASR is nothing but a full report of sounds likes. They wonder why errors are being seen in ASR reports? DUH!!! ...

Fresh out of a local vocational school for MT back in 1993, I met with an established local MT, who allowed me to do a little of her work (with pay) to see how I would do because she wanted someone to take over on Fridays so she could have that day off. Within a few months, she partnered with another transcriptionist in town for a separate account and gave me all the work from group that she was doing! It was 5 docs and 2 NPs. How in no more than 90 days, VR would be completely trained to put out perfect drafts? What the happened to that? I am going to throw that up to my TL, just for grins, every time they rake us over for critical errors, customer complaints and so on. Yes, we are making the errors (or at least some of them) but with drafts getting worse, we are being set up! ...

when you could make a good living by being an MT? What's up with these companies over-hiring and having us sit for hours on end with no work? Why hire so many if you don't need them? I finally quit and will never do MT work again because after going to VR, I sat here for 11 hours on average each day either waiting for work or doing very little work and my last check for an entire month was $240.
