send your job to India? They're doing that anyway. I don't see how they can deny anyone a religious holiday.

just take it also. Wouldn't think twice about it. By the way, their denying us religious holidays because our government lets them, Indian government doesn't allow that. That's why the Indians get a lot of things we don't. Our government lets businesses do what they want.

But our government doesnt deny "other" religions - in this country their religious freedoms

such as the Muslims we have in our local schools have to be dismissed from classes several times a day to pray because that is part of their religion. I just think you could claim that it is part of your particular Christian beliefs that you must not work on the holiest Christian holiday. If enough people stood together, I think we could get it done. Of course, that's why we are in the shape we are in, taking pay cut after pay cut because we won't stick together. Pardon my rambling. Been up too long & need coffee.

Maybe she is waiting to see what the volumes are the Friday before to see if she can approve a few more off instead of just denying you...

You know there will probably be no work anyway, and to ensure that, work like crazy the Thursday, Friday and Saturday before the holiday. Make sure the accounts are empty so that you have those days off. You will just have to punch in and wait the 15 minutes for NJA and then take the rest off with no pay.

I'm off the next 2 days anyway. It really isn't fair to make us wait until the last minute to let us know. How are we supposed to make plans?! What about people who wanted to invite family to their house for a get-together? They're supposed to expect everyone to sit around and wait for our boss to finally make a decision before anyone in the family can make plans?! This is ridiculous.

If they approved everyone off, who would do the work? - Why not call TSM?

I have to do my Christmas on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. I have to work both Christmas eve and Christmas day. Is it fair? NO. I also worked Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and 4th of July! I think people just expect that their holiday is more important than anyone elses. There are others who have worked every holiday and would also like some time off too.

The TSMs job is not easy trying to figure out who gets off, who has to be denied, how many holidays we all have had off already, what the volumes will be.

If everyone thought about someone other than themselves all the darned time, you might be a little more understanding.

they should get on it earlier, shouldn't they. I also worked all holidays last year and this year. I asked for Christmas off and did get approved but would have taken it anyway if I hadn't heard. If I were the OP and hadn't heard back yet, I would just make my plans and take it anyway. We let them know in advance that we want it off, they should approve well in advance.

That's always been my complaint - people need to make plans

I had it out with mine last year over 1 day near christmas...I worked Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years with no complaints..She told me no and I said whatever Im not gonna be there this was something extremely important..we went back and forth, bottom line she threatened me with my job and Im still here..just saying

What I do is send a reminder to my TSM - buddymt

if it has not been approved that I have a PTO request pending and I really need to know as I have plans that need to be made if it is to be approved. I try to sound professional and not aggravated with her in the email. I copy it to her manager if she has already ignore the other emails sent. Hope this helps.

It seems like a lot of people on this board have gone or are going to Andrews for coding. I have seen a lot of jobs for coders where you obviously need to be certified but also have done your education through an AHIMA approved program. Isn't Andrews NOT approved through AHIMA? Wouldn't it be better for me to just do my training through AHIMA? Seems like a lot of money to spend on a program that isn't recognized by AHIMA. ...
