Anyone purchase a good headset from TranscriptionGear?

I got my last headset from them and it was good (Phillips). It took FOREVER for it to come though.

I like the SH-50 headset. I don't know who makes it, but it's stethoscope type.

I found Executive Communications to be cheaper than Transcription Gear.

Honestly, "transcription" headsets are a joke - get a nice set of stereo headphones

Even the phillips over the ear ones at Transcription Gear don't hold a candle to a nice pair of stero headphones.

I use a pair of Bose stereo headphones. They're expensive and I know not everyone has $150 to shell out for something like that, but they've lasted me for several years and I never had issues with sound quality any more.

You know how when you can't hear something, you kind of have to push on the headset to put it closer to your ear to hear better? I never have to do that. Never.

Even if you don't go high end like Bose, Radio Shack has some nice ones for about $50 or so from what I understand.

Those "transcription" headsets aren't worth the money. You will be much more productive with good headphones and you wont' regret the expense (which is tax deductible).

a stereo headset by Skull Candy, made to listen to rock and roll. (No, I don't listen to Metallica.) Be sure to get the metal frames rather than the plastic. Great sound, under $50.

Opinion on over-the-head - see message

I know what you're saying about sound quality with the over-the-head type of sets, but I have curly/wavy hair, and they totally give me BAD hair that is hard to fix once it's destroyed.

Worse than bad hair, is those types of sets are just plain old hot to wear. No heat comes out of them, but if you're in a warm climate, look out. My ears start sweating after a short period of time.

I do have a pair, and I pull them out when I'm desperate for that type of sound quality, but only for a short period of time. Then it's back to my lightweight stethoscope-type.

FlexFone FLX-10 PC Transcription Headset. I buy 2 at a time so I always have a backup. I love that the volume control is right there on the cord so I can adjust accordingly for those not so considerate dictators!

I have always purchased them through HTH Engineering (startstop.com) and they are $29.95, but if you Google it, you might be able to find them cheaper (?). I used to use Start-Stop for an IC account I had so that's when I started using this headset and it's been my favorite ever since!

I don't like over-the-head headsets, and I despise ear buds. I like the ones that hang behind the head. I have Sony MDR-G45. They are lightweight, comfortable, decent sound quality, and less than 15 bucks. I can't remember where I bought them, but try Best Buy, WalMart, or Office Max.

I'm a Sony fan too, have owned several different models of MDRs. - sm

I'm looking to purchase a new headset for transcription. I had a Philips SHM-7500 and it lasted for 6 years. It's no longer being sold other than on E-bay from Korea ;) I have heard good things about both the Logitech h540 and the Spectra USB Transcription Headset, two totally different styles. I want to get an aluminum stethoscope headset because I used to use one onsite at the cancer center I worked for and absolutely loved it. I do have a question though. What type of plug-in would I need? I want to plug it into my speaker and I now use the Emdat Inscribe platform. Anyone know of a reasonably priced headset with microphone (not wireless) that has the big ear pads that fit over the whole ear not just on the ear. I'm talking an ear pad about 2-1/2 x 3 inches.
