Just thought I would share this. Back in September, I had to go to an Urgent Care Center for a nosebleed. It just wouldn't stop. I finally received the doctor's bill in February. Luckily my insurance paid almost all of it. But there was a $10 charge for "Services provided between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m." I just couldn't believe that. I wonder sometimes how people get away with things.

with one of his fins. He was with his friends so met him at ER, where I noticed the bleeding had already stopped and I even kind of questioned why were there. But we were and all that happened was the ER doctor cleaned it up, asked my son more questions about his wetsuit and surfing in general than what happened to him, then proceeded to drop a glob of glue on his head and sent us on our way. Insurance covered all but $260. Yup, $260 out of our pocket for a glob of glue. The entire visit was around $1600 which is a joke. Health care in the good ole US of A!!!!

My daughter has been "glued" at the ER twice in the past year because the closest urgent care center closes at 7 p.m. and these happened after that time. Both times the charges were close to $2000 - and they wonder why people without insurance say "forget it" and don't bother to pay. We'd have been sunk without good insurance.

a hysterectomy. On my bill (luckily paid by insurance!), was a FOURTEEN DOLLAR charge for ONE Kotex pad. I don't know where these hospitals shop for supplies, but I think someone should introduce them to Costco.

they treat. The ACA is supposed to stop that from happening (don't know if it will) so that you won't be charged 14 dollars for a pad. :)

Not to gloat or anything, but I have had just the opposite happen. Last fall, I was having horrible, horrible coughing and could not sleep lying down, so finally went to the ER, was told it was just allergies, I think, nothing much could be done for it, just gave me some cough syrup, etc. Used my insurance card and NEVER DID receive a bill for my copay!!! I do not understand why, but am not too worried about it. Probably just an error on the part of hospital staff.

I currently transcribe from home for a local ortho clinic. When they switch to EMR and I can convince them to keep me to transcribe, what is the best way to charge for my work? I do not work for M*Modal. I am not especially wanting to either. Not many companies will allow satellite internet though besides Transcend, which is being bought out by Nuance.
