Charge for pQME reports - sunnydayinflorida

I have been approached by a doc to transcribe only pQME reports- up to four per month. These will be anywhere from 20 to 60 pages long. Does anyone currently do this? I am trying to figure out a fair price to charge as they want a per line charge. I cannot find any info on the net as to the going rate for this type of sporadic work. Any help out there is greatly appreciated.

[ In Reply To ..]A pQME is a panel qualified medical examination and is a legal document regarding Workman's Comp. The last one I typed on one patient was 53 pages long. Over 183 minutes of voice files. A lot of straight typing. I normally charge .08 per gross line for clinic notes, but these are definitely much more labor intensive than a clinic note :) Wondering if anyone out there types these and need advice on a fair charge. I don't want to price myself out of the ballpark, but don't want to type for minimum wage either. Any advice is so appreciated.

[ In Reply To ..]I type these through an MTSO and I get 0.08 a line so my guess is the company gets 0.12 or better. I would charge 0.12 a line as you don't want to charge too much and then the dr finds someone cheaper, but you don't want to charge too little either. If the dr. thinks 0.12 is too much, then go no less than .10 or .11. However, if this doctor is a pauser or someone who constantly rethinks his/her thoughts and you erase and retype, then I would charge for the audio minute so that you are being paid fairly for your time.

I currently transcribe from home for a local ortho clinic. When they switch to EMR and I can convince them to keep me to transcribe, what is the best way to charge for my work?
