Re-employment Service Orientation (sm) - Yochana

Has anyone on UE gone to a Re-employment Service Orientation appointment? I have one scheduled for 10/12 and would like to know what it involves, what they do, etc. Would appreciate any info.

It was a workshop on how to write a resume, different approaches, etc to get back in the workforce. Actually mine was 2 sessions. They were BORING, but part of the committment on your end to receive unemployment benefits.

The letter I got about the RSO says it will be 2-3 hours long. I am still looking, looking, looking for a good job. I'd MUCH rather be working than getting UE wouldn't you?

I hope part of the RSO is about how to get around - giving away our real ages! sm

I live in Maine and from reading a post below from NJ - my letter stated 3-4 hours. Actually the first one lasted 3 hours and the 2nd one only 2 hours. The length really depends on how many people are in the session and asking questions and how fast the presenter can get her presentation done. I also had the same person for both of my sessions. Yes, I would rather be working, but do find that looking for work is work in itself. There are just so many people seeking work in all fields and sending resumes in for the same jobs, which means actually acquiring a job that you want is not that easy unless you want to work at a local fast food joint or something in those lines. I live in NJ and I had to go to two of them in April and May of this year(became unemployed in mid-April). It is basically like the other MT poster said. How to write a resume if you don't really have one, about marketing yourself, going back to school for new career, etc. They said each of my sessions would last 2 to 3 hours, but I had the same person each time and I basically was in and out in about 1 hour. You have to attend in order to receive your benefits. Good luck.

If your employment with an MTSO is "at will," doesn't that apply to BOTH you and them? The legal meaning of "at-will employment" is as follows: "A common-law rule that an employment contract of indefinite duration can be terminated by either the employer or the employee at any time for any reason; also known as terminable at will." So, given this legal rule, why are we deemed ineligible for rehire when we leave an MTSO without what they perceive as fair notice? ...

So now I am a single mom of 2 children. After 2 months I finally found a job but not doing transcription. Has anyone else answered ads for them. You do a really EASY test. They offer to train you for free.. then send you emails... basically to schedule a job interview. You text them. They send you this agreement, which says that in order to work for them you need to plunk out $450 to buy their software.. This does not quite seem on the level to me.. In a nutshell, I graduated from Career Step in 2007 with High Honors and worked for TRS for a year. I was happy at TRS and produced quality work (98.5% accuracy). Fifteen years ago, I worked for a certain employer and was terminated after 4 months in a particular position. I recently applied to that same employer for the same job. I worked for Viera Diagnostic in Viera, Florida for the past 3 years. I broke my leg recently and they said they didn't need me anymore, as I need physical therapy three times a week to insure mobility in the future. Hello All, I just received the results of my pre-employment testing. I have not had to "score" on a test in quite some time.
