Anyone who types histology transcription, do you have doctors who for diagnosis give for example "benign prostatic hypertrophy" and then you are to "assume" that you need to go up to the specimen area on the requistion and fill in all the specimen information and then put the "BPH" with a dash after the initial diagnosis that is not actuallly dictated. I am uncomfortable doing this and wondering if this is standard procedure for this type of dictation. I did get in trouble for not "knowing" I was to do this. Just curious if this is standard procedure as usually I type acute care and not histology. Thanks.
