Don't work for this company. They are extremely picky. One person tells you to do it one way, another tells you differently. They tell you to leave blanks for another to listen to (that's what we want!) but then complain that you are leaving blanks. No one can hear some of the poor dictators and you need to leave a blank. If you decide to try to fill in the blank, you are wrong too. I am a very experienced transcriptionist to have been treated this poorly by them! They don't have time to "train" you. You are on your own. One bad move, they will fire you. Minimal training and then let loose to fend for yourself, bitchy people when you try to ask for help! I worked for them for a month or two and I just had to leave! Unorganized, and just like most of these companies out there, get a clue!!!
We experienced transcriptionists don't want to spend so much time on demographics and things we are not getting paid for. Come on companies, we are making less than McDonald's wages!! The good jobs are going to the newbies, because the newbies can't do the difficult doctors. That leaves the difficult doctors to the experienced ones and we make less money by the line because of it!
After 30 years in this business, I no longer wish to be a medical transcription for ANY of these big companies. Often times they have supervisors who know nothing about transcription (most often), and then they have leads who step in the role, and then step right back out not too much longer after that. They don't get paid enough to do the job, or don't get paid at all.
The pay is getting less, and the dictators are getting worse. Good luck India and Pakistan, soon you will have more work than you know with all the experienced transcriptionists leaving!
