I have never gotten paid per dictated minute and just curious what is a good pay range for this. The account would be straight typing. Just trying to get an idea. Thanks for your help!

Yes, you're paid for the ums, pencil tapping, etc. But on the flip side of that, if Speed Demon or Mush Mouth are who you get, you spend more time trying to figure out what's said. So for that 2 minute report that takes you 20 to transcribe, at $1 a minute, you've made $2 buck for 20 minutes work.

But as the one poster was basically saying--if you have a real fast talker who just dictated what would normally be a 5-minute report in 2 minutes, you lose. All that slowing down and reversing audio is wasted time.

[ In Reply To ..]I do general transcription at 0.02 cents per word...I feel that is very fair...it's actually great pay. I started out at 0.01 cents then moved up to 0.15 cents and then to 0.02. That way you are getting paid for what you actually type. I would not type for less than $80 an audio hour because they can really pack a lot in that hour. When people offer $40 an audio hour, that is a total ripoff (in my opinion).

This seems crazy asking this while taking the final exam, but this layout seems spitefully incorrect. A few chapters back, it stated "going forward with the course, transcribe the report layout exactly how the dr. dictates it". In this final exam, its an operative report and she has the pre-op and post-op diagnosis' at the end of the report! Should I put them at the beginning where they have been with all the other reports we were given? So confused! ...
