Frustrated with the BOS 3rd edition being web-based! - sm

The pdf electronic version of BOS-2 was so handy and easy to use. Wonder what made them decide to do away with that & make it to where you have to open a browser, find the link, sign in, find the BOS page, etc., for the 3rd edition. It's so much more time-consuming, not to mention the search feature doesn't work nearly as well as the BOS-2 pdf version. For the first time ever, I can't wait for the 4th edition because surely nobody likes this & they will go back to pdf!

The 2nd edition came with a book and a CD, didn't it? I downloaded the CD and gave the book to a friend who didn't have the money to buy one because they are NOT cheap, and it is like everything else now, these companies who make products only good for 1 year so people have to buy the product again the next year. BOS keeps coming out with new editions that you must buy almost every year, yes? Why not just sell updates? How many changes are there actually anyway?

This is hardly the lucrative profession it used to be. How out of touch these associations and book sellers are...

I think BOS needs to get booted into "round-files" from one end of this country to the other. AND deleted from our computers. It's a total waste of time and money for all concerned, except those who wrote (and are yet still writing) it. Trying to keep up with that fly-by-night organization's weekly rule-changes has impacted TAT for most companies negatively, because there's no way we MTs can keep up with all that nit-pickiness and still get any real work done. I wonder when they're finally going to figure out they've been HAD by AAMT/AHDI?

that are done from 1 edition to the next are pathetic, mostly about usage of hyphens, abbreviations etc, and are reversed in the following edition, making everybody confused which 1 to use.

It's ALL about money.

BOS is a bunch of BS! I have 2 accts, one using it - the other refusing to use it.

It is so confusing going back and forth, and then to have BOS "update" and change things, absolutely ridiculous. It is someone's OPINION, yet transcriptionists must use it as law? Just makes us look like a bunch of suckers. The acct I do who refuses it is because the doctors do not like it, and I would say the customer is right. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL YOU HARD-WORKING MTs !

Seriously. QA bounces back and forth DAILY between "do-not-hyphenate" days to "hyphenate-everything" days. Same with everything else. Not to mention they vary it still further from account to account. The ONLY way to survive in that muddled-up mess is to ignore 99.9% of it. I type "daily" instead of "q.d.", but that's about it!

I cannot get the software to give me totals except in tab delineation, and then I only get totals for each report, not the total sum, which I have to count manually. It keeps showing the documents being counted in the background as read-only, but they are not, unchecked box several times. Anybody? Thanks in advance. just me ...

I am just venting. I took a position with a company a few months ago as a secondary income and the platform and dictators are great - very easy to make good money. The problem is there's not enough work to hit my daily line counts and when I ask for more, I kind of get the brush off.
