Frustrated! Need a job!!! - Need cash!

After 13+ years of working in transcription, I am so frustrated. The pay is less, the jobs seem abundant but getting hired is like pulling teeth from a rhino! I have plenty of experience in transcription, QA and account management. Hell, I've even worked the help desk and scheduling but no luck!

You could always go waitress. Many places are hiring for the holidays and it would at least get you through Christmas.

Do not keep looking on these boards for jobs. EVERYONE is looking here and the companies are getting tons of applicants. If you are not on linked in, join and start sending friend requests to other transcriptionists. You can see from there what other companies they have on their lists. Look up the websites of the companies that you see and email the companies and ask if they are hiring. It's a new world - the old way of looking for jobs doesn't work anymore. Best wishes

For those considering doing this, I thought you might like to know what/how I'm selling:

Day before yesterday I sold a collectible train for $36 on 3 bids. Went to Quebec, Canada. My doctor gave it to me because he knows I sell on eBay, so my cost of goods sold on this one was $0.

Yesterday I sold 2 things: A vintage sweater I paid $1 at a garage sale and sold for $24.99 and a coat the above doctor gave me; that went for $24.99 as well.

No sales thus far today, but I have an auction ending soon with 1 bid and 4 watchers on a coat I paid $3 for at a charity fundraiser. I know it will go for $39.99 even if nobody else bites.

I took the day off work at the hospital today and am listing some ugly Christmas sweaters I picked up for $3 each at a garage sale. Not sure what I'll start them at (I need to research the competition), but bidding on the ugliest (best!) will start at at least $34.99.

Hope this is useful to you. As I've posted before, I got the idea to do this from somebody here on this board. There's a few of us doing it now.

It is a website called LinkedIn. You can post your resume there and link with other professionals. It is a newer way of marketing yourself than just sending out resumes.

NOT like prostitute yourself, but put an ad on Craigslist or Facebook or some other free networking site offering your services for cash, like house cleaning, dog walking, babysitting, personal shopper. Facebook usually has a buy/sell/trade page for every major city in your state and you can post pictures of items you are trying to sell. My friend does it alot especially with kids clothes. Check your local stores or newspaper, many places are hiring just for the holidays and some even pay cash. I think bell ringer for the Salvation Army are paid too. Good luck!

I used to work for a transcription company on production pay at 7 cents/line after a few years there and basically getting starved out of the door for lack of work they were sending me I quit. I am just venting. I took a position with a company a few months ago as a secondary income and the platform and dictators are great - very easy to make good money. The problem is there's not enough work to hit my daily line counts and when I ask for more, I kind of get the brush off. It baffles me because there are other accounts in which they have work and they have even needed to post job openings and yet, I sit with no work. Frustrated that even though I have stressed my proficiency in ED work, I am still forced to do other work types first, while yet others are getting ED work types in their "pools"... I would think you would want someone who types fast in a certain area be allowed to crank that work out first and then when it runs out, let the other work types they are not so good at roll into their pool.... The pdf electronic version of BOS-2 was so handy and easy to use. Wonder what made them decide to do away with that & make it to where you have to open a browser, find the link, sign in, find the BOS page, etc., for the 3rd edition.
