Free Text Expander - jum

Posted: Nov 20, 2011

Hi guys,

Do you happen to know any free text expander compatible with Windows 7?

Would appreciate it very much if you could help me with this.

Thanks.

expander - auto correct

I would use the autocorrect also, except some platforms are not compatible with autocorrect, but then that platform would have a built in expander in most cases. I just started a new job with Bayscribe and cannot use autocorrect, but the expander in Bayscribe platform is great. On autocorrect can only have a certain number of characters, so putting in a whole document in a short cut not possible with that autocorrect expander.

Hi, I started out using just the Word autocorrect but found that I needed a little bit more. I could not afford Instant Text or Shorthand.
I found Breevy. I love it. It's not free but it's very inexpensive.
You can import all your current Word autocorrects into Breevy and can hot key some formatting and stuff to.
It was the best $35 I spent on software. You buy the license and can install it on all of your computers (desktop and laptop).
Hope this helps.

Downloading The Free 30-day Trial Of Instant Text
Jan 09, 2012

I am downloading the free 30-day trial of Instant Text.  I thought that you could pay so much per year to use Instant Text, but the only thing I see for paying said $189 to buy it.  Maybe I am mistaken, and it was another expander I'm thinking of.  Anybody know?  TIA :) ...

Text Expander And SR
Aug 03, 2011

In school, we were given the opportunity to have a 4-month trial of Shorthand for Windows. I really enjoyed using this program and had considered purchasing an extended license for it when I become employed; however, I thought of the MT industry heading more towards SR/VR editing and wondered if having a text expander would be useful at all. Any inputs? I'm currently using Word's AutoCorrect as a substitute. ...

Hi all.  A new job has just fallen into my lap at a fortuitous time.  My regular job has fallen off drastically recently (we're all familiar with this "syndrome") and I thought I was just stuck.  Anyway, this other job uses WebChartMD platform for transcription and there is no text expander program associated with it.  My current job has a built-in TE, so I haven't had to use a commercial/free product in a long time.  I'm wondering any ya'll have any ...

Text Expander (Rocket Typing)
Sep 17, 2012

I received Speedtype from the school I am going through to learn Medical Transcription. It worked fine and then we started having computer issues and my husband decided to upgrade to a newer version of Windows. To make a long story short, the new version of Windows was put on a separate hard drive in the same computer, but for some reason when I would log into the old hard drive to use Speedtype it would say I no longer had a license and would have to purchase a replacement license....so I did ...

Text Expander With Existing MT Basics Dictionary For Download?

I'm returning to MT after several years away and working as an IC. Free At Last!!!
Oct 25, 2009

After working for MQ for nearly 5-1/2 years, I'm finally leaving.  The first 5 years were great!  Then they decided to force QAs to do transcription and ASR.  If I wanted to transcribe I would have applied for an MT job.  Not to mention the fact that I was making close to $16 an hour and now this has been reduce to around $11 and sometimes under $8.  It's MQs loss.  It's too bad they don't treat their valuable employees better.  I just love ...
