A community of 30,000 US Transcriptionist serving Medical Transcription Industry
This isn't about Nuance, but as this seems to be the most frequented forum, I thought I would post here.
This morning I applied for a transcription position with a cover letter and resume. The recruiter wrote me back about an hour later explaining the line rate and providing the link to take their test. I wasn't too thrilled about the pay but went ahead and took the test. It was the easiest test I've ever taken, comprised mostly of spelling and grammar with a few medical terms thrown in.
While taking the test, I recall thinking that this is the stuff I learned within months of my first transcription job. That was nearly 18 years ago. Real easy-peasy stuff. Yet when I submitted my test, I received an immediate response stating that I didn't meet the minimum requirements. In essence, I had failed.
I sat there stunned for a moment, thinking how in hell could I not have passed this elementary test. As I read the response more, I noticed they suggested I take a transcription course to improve my skills. They even provided a link to a specific "school." Hmmmmm, I thought. That's peculiar.
Curious, I clicked the link, and wouldn't you know that the online "school" is part of the company itself.
