Does Bayscribe work with Windows 8? - needhelp

Do any of you know if Bayscribe works with Windows 8? I need a new computer and I want to make sure it will run.

I'm not sure about Bayscribe, but 8 is mostly for touchscreen/tablets. Go with 7 or 8.1.

A lot of jobs are not 8 compatible yet. Agree with other poster - wait on 8 a few years. NM

yes, it works with windows 8. Work a couple of different jobs, but working on Bayscribe now for past 3 yrs. and is compatible.

How did you work around the ALT keys - Emily

When I tried to upgrade to 7 or 8, the problem was that Windows uses the ALT key commands and you can't change them. For instance ALT-D should bring up a dr list in Bayscribe but it defaults to a Windows menu. I contacted MS techs and they said there is no way to change the default Window settings in 7 or 8. I'd love to know how you worked around that because I'm holding an XP system together with a wing and a prayer.

Did you check under the Word Expansion Settings, Local Configuration? You can set the hot keys there, but I've never had to use that, was always just set when I loaded Productivity Tools.

I spent MONTHS trying to get someone to help me figure this out. I've been begging a 14-year-old XP laptop to give me "one more day" so that I didn't miss work.

I bought a new laptop in February and had not been able to get the bayplayer to come up or the ALT keys to adapt. So I've been working on the old laptop for one job and the new laptop for a second job.

I'm now happily working on the new laptop for both and am VERY grateful! Thanks so much!

and that you are good to go on your new laptop. I hated giving up my beloved XP but finally bit the bullet on that old laptop. I remembered vaguely about changing the ALT keys (pulled out my old original paperwork from BayScribe) because at the time, I was working on 2 different platforms and considered changing some of the hot keys.

I work for the big nasty N on their Bayscribe platform and they keep saying that Windows 8 is not compatible with their software.

No, no, NO! Do NOT get 8. It is not compatible with BS.

Hello.....I have been using Bayscribe on my old desk top PC with windows XP and IE-8. IT works fine. I recently purchased a dell laptop and was told by my MTSO that bayscribe would work on windows 7 but not 8....so, I specifically asked purchased the laptop with windows 7. But the IE on this new laptop is IE-10....so after much research, I found that this could be deleted, which I did and now I have IE-8 on this new windows 7 laptop..... BUT.....I still cannot get the AUDIO to load ...

Has anyone ever wanted to work for a company that only used Windows XP and you had Windows 7 but could virtually move to XP mode? Could you download their software on the XP mode side and get it to work? I had a job interview where their software only worked on XP. I thought I could do that, but I had to also have Word 2003. I updated to IE10 from IE9 and now the QA marker won't work. Anybody know what to do to get it to work? Anybody working on Bayscribe in IE10? I key in Alt-Q and the marker comes up, but when I press enter or okay with the mouse, the box goes away and no marker in the text. I can go in an uninstall the update if need be, but I was hoping this would work. TIA. ...

I started with a company using BayScribe. I have a rather unusual problem. The BayScribe expander will not function in the document. I can bring it up via Control F3 and can add entries, but they will not expand. When my machine is entered remotely, that user IS able to expand, but within the same session, I still cannot expand.
