I am just curious as to why you would want your equipment provided by the company. Most of the time, you cannot add your own expander or other software you may use as well asa the fact that they discourage the use of the internet, because they feel you are "goofing off" and not working.
Many years ago, I had a system provided by Precyse, and the computer provided was a Netbook system, so it didn't even have a hard drive. It came preloaded with what they wanted you to use.
From what I have heard though recently, I believe that Precyse does, MModal and Nuance might. I think I saw a couple of other companies as well where equiment was provided, but can't think of them right now and still on my first cup of coffee :)
If you can, I would suggest looking into having your own computer. I bought a laptop at Walmart a little over a year ago, for just under $300 with Windows 7and its been a great little workhorse so to speak. Check EBay, Tiger Direct and other sites as well. The one thing I would steer clear of is a system with Windows 8, since many platforms do not support Windows 8 and even in talking to techs, they do not like it as an operating system at all.

Like I mentioned before not enough coffee yet, but another thing that you could consider if money is tight right now and you cannot shell out money for your own computer, is "rent to own." It's much more expensive in the long run, but many years ago, I got an HP laptop from one of these companies and I had it for seven years until it finally died. You can pay on it the way your pay periods are set up, for example I made payments every 2 weeks and again, it was pricey, but at the time, I was out in the country and had to use an air card and had no other alternative to be able to work.

Thank you for your response. I have been working as a transcriptionist for the same company as an employee for several years part time from home. I am not planning on leaving them. I have decent benefits, and the pay is not great but better than most national companies. I am not able to increase my hours there, so I am looking for another part-time position to supplement. My company provides all of my computer and software needs. I would have to make a pretty big investment in not only hardware but software for a part-time position. From what I have seen, the salaries these companies are paying would make that hard to justify right now.

M*Modal sends out two boxes of items to new employees including a computer, keyboard, monitor, mouse, footpedal, and headphones. In addition you get a switch (to use two computers with one monitor/keyb/mouse), an 8-outlet power strip, and several other items that are useful for doing your job.
Precyse still provides equipment completely - loaded for their platform and

free. If it breaks and they can't fix it remotely, they send a technician to your house to replace parts. You get paid for downtime as long as it's over 4 hours.
I picked up a great used computer on Craig's List for $150 including a 19-inch flat screen and speakers with Windows 8, a suped-up NVIDIA graphics driver for games and graphics, free version of AVG antivirus, and Spybot already loaded. None of the extra garbage that HP and Compaq like to add, programs you will never use, etc.

Companies That Provide Equipment? Mar 30, 2013Does anyone know which companies provide the equipment? I need a job desperately. I bought a new computer (HP Pro with Windows 7) but my USB infinity foot pedal will not play the transcription files. Companies That Provide 401Ks And Profit-sharing: Oct 20, 2009There's just ONE, eensy-weensy little problem with MT companies providing their employees with a 401K as one of their benefits:
What person on a measly MT's earnings can afford to put anything into it????? I can't spare even a dollar at the end of each pay period, and haven't been able to put anything into even a savings account for years.
Did it ever occur to them that a retirement account is USELESS if you don't pay your employees enough to fund it?

Are There Any Companies Left That Still Provide A Company Computer For Employees? Sm Oct 07, 2012I'm just talking about employees here, not ICs.
