Are you a telephone communicator or email? How often do you hear from your MTSO? - RoadRunnerMT

As an MT, I avoid the phone like a hawk to everyone! Friends, family, and coworkers alike, during working hours and during non-working times as well.  I HATE wasting my time talking on the phone period.  To me, my time is valuable and equates to literally pennies on the line.  Just wondering about how much communication you get from your MTSO and how much of it is actually pertinently top of the line necessary and/or how much can be weeded and cut out.  Are you being micro-managed?  Are you constantly spending your pennies per line wasting time on the telephone or IM or emails?

How often do you hear from your MTSO say on a daily or weekly basis? 

By which method? Personal email, company email, IM, telephone?

How much of this is personal work issues, general account info, plain personal chit/chat, i.e. not necessary?

Do they respect your working and only call you during your shift for work related issues?

Do they call you off your schedule/clock if you have one?

I hear from my job 99.9% of the time via email. No IM. Definitely no personal chat. I have multiple accounts, and emails total 15-20 a day and pertain to stats and/or backlogs usually. Last 2 q's, yes and no respectively.

Is this a survey? or job searching?

Just sometimes you get those bad feelings that something doesn't seem right and it makes you wonder. As far as being micromanaged, those things, unfortunately, you never know until you have signed on. I get my work done but I also just want left alone to get my work done. I don't need hand holding. I don't want to IM you to go use the restroom, etc. Really tired of all the IC jobs that want to nit pick you to death and offer you nodda.

I've never spoken to the MTSO.

I interact with my acct mgr via IM most of the time, but even that is low. Usually on Fridays she and I will exchange some personal chit chat.

For account changes/specs I get email so I have a record.

I love being left alone to just to the job.

My MTSO and I also have an unofficial agreement not to bother - Poppy

bother each other unnecessarily. Certainly no phone calls when e-mail will do, which is virtually always. Not antisocial, or even too busy for an occasional pleasant word, just don't need any hand-holding and wouldn't accept micromanaging, which has never been a problem. Sounds like you have one, though.

One of the MAJOR perks of at-home MT is minimal contact with ''supervisors'', office people, QA, team leads, etc. My company is very professional with minimal(2-4 daily) strictly business emails about backlogs, acct. preferences, etc. Worked briefly for a smaller company that gave its ''management'', team leads, even QA, free reign to make phone calls and throw periodic conference calls with info that could easily have been conveyed by email, and it was more than annoying. Happy to now be with a more professionally run company that understands that most MTs simply want to do their work and not be bothered.

I recently took a job as an IC, thinking it would be great to make my own schedule. HOWEVER, I have to work when the work is there. There is no making my own schedule. The work flow dictates when I work. There is no work on Monday or Tuesday. Maybe a few reports trickle in late Tues, but then more work comes late Wednesday afternoon, then work Thurs, Fri, Sat, and by Sunday no work again. Account is for clinic docs, no acute care. Coumadin 30 mg per day. Now, I want to make sure I'm not dreaming here, but that is completely incorrect, right? Maybe I'm having a brain lapse (been an MT for 20 years) but I want to make sure my thinking is correct that this dosage would probably be lethal? I'm going to leave a blank for the dosage, but I just wanted to double check with my MT friends.  I have listened to it many times, and she is positively saying "30 mg per day."   TIA!! ...
