Any Andrews coding graduates that were able to find work after completing course?? sm - Newbie coding student

Anybody on here graduated from Andrews coding course and able to find work? I am just really scared I am going to do all of this and not find a job anywhere? Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks

No one can guarantee you a job. You still need to learn the material, get credentialed, and market yourself diligently and appropriately.

You canot succeed in any field if you are spending your time cringing in fear of what might happen in the future.

If you want a guaranteed job, the hamburger industry can provide it. If you want something better, you will have to do your best and work on it.

I would say thay you have a better shot at it with Andrews than anyone else. Make up your mind to go for it and then do it.

It sure would be more inspiring to hear if and where Andrews grads are finding work, rather than platitudes of keep up the good work and fight the good fight. Just saying. :)

If you were attacked every time you posted help for someone, would you stay?

You might imagine that this board is somewhere coders hang out, but they don't. Coders don't chat like MTs do, nor do they need a place to grouse about lousy working conditions. There are only 2 or 3 left here now. The rest gave up.

I found work in large facility coding, both inpatient and outpatient coding, then compliance and CDI. Another I know of went straight into inpatient. Another went from inpatient coding to chief of HIM.

Okay, I'll bite. I am a past grad and have not found a job. I am reluctant to post here anymore since I was attacked the last time I did. It's hard to have a discussion when there is so much negativity.

Andrews student, near grad, new FT coding job doing outpatient work. No problem being hired. Did very well on the coding test. I can't speak for the others, but I have NO REGRETS taking the course at Andrews, especially after seeing several co-workers taking "community college" coding courses, and none can pass the CCA, not even considering the CPC or CCS. They are a great group of ladies, and I learn from them daily. But, they were not trained at all for inpatient work or HCPCS, very little CPT training through their local community college.

Hi - I went with Andrews but I did consider my local community college first, as I thought it might be better to actually be in a classroom. This is a relief to me to know that. Have you passed the CPC exam and gotten a job? Is that the coding test you are referring to that you passed? So you are still a student and already found a job as a coder?

I am seriously considering going into the coding program with Andrews soon. My main concern just lies in finding employment after I finish and become certified. Can any Andrews graduates share their experiences? Were you able to find employment quickly? Was anyone able to start working from home immediately? Andrews School of Medical Coding and Transcription........... In my opinion, you cannot go wrong with Andrews. I went through their medical transcription training course and did very well with my job search. Based on my training at Andrews, I have not had a problem with employment tests, passing the RMT and CMT, etc., and with the coding program, as long as I study hard and do the assignments, I believe that I will have the same experience. Does anyone know of a (non-degree) program other than Andrews that upon completion will allow you to be eligible to sit for the CCS and CPC exam. and I think I'd enjoy the job (after researching for the past year). I really want to do something interesting for the rest of my working life (and still have a career rather than just a job like I do now), but now I'm starting to wonder if I am too old at 58. I guess I'd get through the schooling in about 12 months, then take the CCS exam (takes time?) and then I say give myself up to a year to find a job (??). I've been looking at both Andrews and Career Step for online coding classes. One thing that I've noticed (other than the cost differences) is that the Career Step course can be completed in as little as 4 months. It seems the Andrews course takes a minimum of 12 months. One thing I haven't seen posted re: Andrews is a reasonable expectation of a timeframe for an experienced MT to complete their program. What has been everybody's experience thus far? they call this a 12-course basics. it says 2000, plus you need an additional 290 +225 for the required anatomy and physiology course, which you must at least get a C before you can proceed with the coding. they also suggest 35 a year for becoming a member. books are also a lot extra, looks like. says 4 clusters of 15-week courses, that is 60 weeks, yes? anyone have experience with this course? call me gun-shy, but this is the organization who threw MT unde ...

From what I've read, the CCS exam sounds difficult and I'm curious if any Andrews grads passed the exam as soon as they were finished with the course.
