accentus - what's the catch? - slave wages
Posted: May 15, 2012
ad says they are paying 7.15 CPL for SR Editing and 11.18 CPL for Transcription. Must be a catch. What is it?

Those are the highest rates and are for the "star team." You cannot start off on the star team. It is for the best MTs and you are trained on all of the accounts. They do have a "fast track" for getting on this team, but it is still a minimum of 60 days, and you must meet certain minimum requirements during this time.
Their base SR rate varies depending on your experience as well as the account.
I thought it was virtual black character (no spaces). - MT2

Which is the catch. I think that drags it down a huge percentage on line counts.
VBC - another MT

They do pay only VBC, but it's also based on a 55-character line, so it there basically isn't much difference between that an a 65 character line with spaces.

They offered me 7.25 cents per line for straight typing and 4 or 4.5 for editing. As an independent contractor. I suggested they bite me.
I hope you - really did that

I have been responding to ads with low wages and making comments (not bite me) and telling them what my rate is. Also sending inquiries to the contact us button at MTSOs and telling them what my rate is.
Also, oddly Accentus is advertising again, when there are some on the board who applied, tested, interviewed, were "hired" and never heard back from them. They told me "I did not meet what they were looking for at this time." Or something like that. With 16 years experience, I wonder what they are looking for? Hmmm.
Is anyone else experiencing sort of a Catch-22 with ASR in terms of staying disciplined to stay in your chair? I hate it so much that it makes me tense, and then I have to pop up out of my chair. When I'm doing straight MT I don't have this pop-out-of-the-chair syndrome. As well, with ASR, I want to pop up because I'm ticked that I'm not making much money doing it. Almost like there is no incentive to even SIT there. But, I have to, a little more ...
Some clients starting to notice and complaining. But geez, some of those CP's are so lengthy and convoluted and laden with so many things we do not get paid for. Of course, the longer the CP, the more likely the client is to complain. ... Some CP's are so long and involved, those accounts really shouldn't be farmed out to those who normally do the account. To be unfamiliar with an account with so many peculiarities is inviting trouble. Choices, choice, go through that CP and m ...
I'd love to know how my old hospital feels about the reports that they're putting in their charts, now that they've outsourced everything to a company that uses ASR (which, incidentally, they were not told would be used when they contracted with the MTSO....although they may have assumed it--I don't know).
There are just soooo many things that ASR will never, ever catch--especially in cases where the doctor is just being absent-minded. For instance, I once had a ...
On recent mandatory training video, when talking about quality percentages etc., the speaker mentioned that on spot audits by clients out of every 100 lines audited, only 60 of lines (or 60%) must be error free?
Did I interpret that correctly? ...
I am still reeling from this sit-down. I interviewed with the hiring manager of a huge medical group in this fairly large city. I got her opinion on the future of MT. This group wants to get caught up on everything because they are converting to EHR. So, there is a temp position available. Its $18 an hour. Just like the old days.
She told me that, as a manager, in her opinion, MT is gone. She was a true skeptic and had a wait and see attitude abo ...
Hi. I haven't been working for Accentus very long, but long enough that I should be meeting the 200 lph requirement for SR, but I'm still really struggling to do it. I was wondering if anyone else had that experience or if maybe I am entering my time incorrectly or something. I consistently average 165 lph for straight transcription so I feel like 200 is something I shouldn't be struggling so hard to meet, but I am. I love Accentus so far so I don't wa ...
I just received a job offer from accentus as well as from NTS. This will be my first position as an MT since graduation. Any advice on what job offer I should take? ...
I received an email that they saw my resume on this board and want me to apply. I've never heard of them so I'd appreciate any info, good, bad or otherwise. Thanks. ...
I'm considering going with one of these companies and wondering how they compare. Would appreciate any information from any current/former employees of either company. Thank you! ...
ask the moderator(s) to remove all my hateful messages. Forgive me. I was very hungry and very stressed. Things have improved dramatically. Thank you all! ...
Feeling down and out today, was removed from an account. My 4 weeks on QA was up, did my best, but seems like they want 100% no errors. Anyone else feel my pain?? Its a blow to my confidence, been doing MT for 10 years, I have another job test to take, so hopefully will get another job soon. ...
I would be doing cliniic work because I want the flexible 12-hour schedule to fit around a part time job working directly for a small hospital. I may end up being bored, but I want to give it a try. How is the clinic work and how is the Apex system? I have previously worked on DocQspeech and Escription. I really want no more than two accounts and to be mostly just left alone unless I screw something up. Is this possible with Accentus? ...
Medical Transcription just keeps going downhill. They expect more and pay less. I work for Accentus now and actually love my account and got my pay up to 5 cents for SR and 9 cents for transcription, but I have to work 10 hours a day just to make ends meet. They pay based on how many lines you type per hour so it can change every pay period. It's better than what I had at Transcend. The only thing is that my supervisor is a narcissist, very mean, tears you down ...
Does anyone work for either of these companies? I've been thinking about applying to them but I don't know much about them. They sound good on their websites. Thanks. ...
Hi everyone. I just applied today with Accentus. Does anyone know approximately how long it takes them to respond if they want to interview you ?? The web site said someone would call if I met their criteria.
Thanks everyone ! ...
Looking at these 2 companies closely and wanting to make a change very soon. I've always heard great things about Amphion, and applied with them once but didn't accept the offer because the pay was a bit lower. I haven't heard much on them lateley so if anyone works for them currently I'd love to hear about it.
Also curious about Accentus. Their add claims to start VR at 0.055. Has anyone recently received an offer from them, or curr ...
