The pay is only a LITTLE low. Have you checked around lately. Some are paying even less than that. They were great to work for. I just could not handle working 2 jobs anymore.

Have had a few different jobs over the last few years being put out by technology, and have always been offered and gotten the same pay, not less.

The majority of us know that and have talked about it on these boards for all this time. There is no denying it. It takes a broader focus outside the box to see the slow decline of the MT in America.

.07 - .08 per line for straight typing and .03 - .04 for SR has been the same for the past 7 years. It's pretty standard and has been for quite some time and it's not getting lower. There are a couple places that pay as low .02 for SR, Sten-tel being one of them. Everyone complaining but it's been this way for years with the same wages pretty much. I'm sure there may be a few places who pay more, but sorry to say this is the standard and has been for a very, very long time. If you are looking to make much more than that a career change might be in order and if you just graduated or recently graduated, you should have checked wages before taking MT training because it has been this amount for at least the past 7 years and I have been doing MT for 14 years.

7 years ago, I was making 12 cents a line with full benefits. Today, I am lucky to get 7. I worked for two other companies in the last 7 years, one for 11 cents a line and one for 12. You are woefully misinformed. The wages have gone down, down, down, and as companies have merged and SR has come into play, they will continue to drop. I have been doing it for 45 years.

Loving working for someone says something. This is not the same business I started working for 15 years ago but I have no reason to change my course. It allowed me to be at home with small children and not have the relative expenses of working outside my home. Silver linings. Do you remember how they paid (i.e. twice a month, every 2, direct deposit, etc.?) Apparently I passed all portions with flying colors, interview today and possible training on Monday. Any information would be appreciated.

Can anyone answer a question about this new procedure? I want to swap a shift for next week but having trouble understanding this new process. I guess if you want to work a different shift on a particular day, you would first need to post yours and make sure someone takes it before you claim another as you might end up working both - correct? So, our CCM sent out an e-mail that she has received a directive that if we are not working our exact schedule, we are going to receive an oral warning and then be performance managed.
