contact them about my current company. I told them there is not a company out there that pays decent wages and I am lucky to bring home $150 a week currently. Maybe we can get ALL these MTSOs to pay decent wages! Finally!

I am reminded of a line from George Orwell's Animal Farm: "Some animals are more equal than others."

That is - we get paid by 65-character lines, right? Well, all those cc's and addresses and patient names etc that we key in - they ALL add up to 65-character lines - as do all the EMAILS and account specs we read as well. They are ALL varying numbers of 65-character lines - or perhaps in some cases, fractions of 65-character lines (which add up to eventually whole 65-character lines).

I'm entitled to get paid for ALL 65-character lines I produce / process / eyeball / do work on - not just what the cheapskate employer "feels like" paying for. Otherwise, we're in an Orwellian netherworld of "some characters are more equal than others."

This is IN ADDITION TO time spent doing research, looking stuff up, AS WELL AS a "degree of difficulty" differential for reports (and we all get 'em!) where SR is inadequately recognizing the dictated report to produce the 50% productivity gain we are told justifies the 50% pay CUT.

I feel this all goes way beyond "are we making minimum wage." This also is not a "what are we worth issue," the question is: What are these 65-character lines worth? If a line of text in an email is easier to process than that in a dictation - so we should get paid less for eyeballing it - on the other hand, a ton of emails (I almost had a typo of eye-mails) reduces our productivity, so there should be a productivity differential added in, for any emails above, say, 10 emails per WEEK?

Let's think very carefully about how our pay is determined.

And not only that... The award sends a message to ALL the other companies out there that they are no longer allowed to oppress the wage-earner. As trite as it sounds, it's not just about the money, it's also about the principle of the matter!

I noticed today that the break pay section of the timesheet was gone today and when I clocked off a minute ago after working for 7 hours that in the "break" box, it said 0.00, when usually it would be 0.33. I just noticed today that my TL no longer shows up on my comagent. I always keep it open on my desktop and can tell who is on and who isn't and her name is always there regardless of whether she is working or not and then today all of a sudden her name is gone. Yes, I have seen this enough times that it no longer surprises me. There were 18 reports on my primary. I have an hour left of my shift. When I anticipated downloading the next one, all 18 were gone, gone, gone. It is upsetting. Saince Transcription no longer has a QA Staff. They let them all go about a month ago. The MTs have been divided into teams with a team leader who is doing all the QA for the team. I have gone back and looked at my post audits and since this new pay plan has gone into place, they have only 1 time edited a job that was over 100 lines (103 lines) all the rest are between 25 and 50 or so lines which I find quite ironic.
