Have you seen the new message on Community Board at the top of the page, "Please look for the QA Communicaton and another company update within the next week."

Scares me and I am sure the rest of us still employed there. So sorry for all those who were laid off.

Hopefully they aren't going to put out another update after more people are laid off next week. I don't know why they would put something like that on there. Is it supposed to be a warning of some sort?

Maybe The Spider is trying to fool you into thinking - if you work extra hard, your job is safe.

99.5% accuracy - Long time transcriptionist

In the last two months at Webmedx I have had reviews and was 99.5% or above. In Webmedx's newest news release they promised this quality. Could that be some of the problem with the lay-offs?

No. In July I was at 99.7%. I was given 5 days' notice of a drastic cut in pay and reassurance that I was too good to let go. If you notice some old pros missing, that's why.

Was the pay cut from starting ASR and the percentage increase for the first few weeks of ASR being taken away?

No. The point was not to assume excellence or seniority means job security at Webmedx. It's some function of working for less and QA scores. You will notice several excellent SWAT and QA people with good records and seniority in the company were sent back to the MT ranks doing mostly ISR or quit when made the offer.

If I remember correctly, they had stated that it was paramount that we put out quality documentation and QA was preparing something regarding this. Maybe something along the lines of the "commitment to excellence" program a couple of years ago?

They announce yet another promotion - another director! Company has too many directors, managers, executives already. They probably took the salaries the laid off people were making and gave the new director a big fat raise.

do these type of companies need 20 some board of directors making anywhere from 250,000 to 500,000 plus 50,000 bonuses, stocks and lord knows what else?

These posts have become quite tiresome. So many people are spouting off with information heard from someone who heard something from someone else through the grapevine. Didn't your parents teach you that just because something is being repeated doesn't make that "something" a fact. Want to point blame for layoffs, point to the companies that are farming out our work for pennies on the dollar. That is where our work has gone and is going. No company ever wants to go through a layoff because it isn't pleasant for anyone, not in for MTs, auto workers, textile workers, steel workers, etc. Until someone somewhere stands up and tells these companies that are sending our work outside on the cheap that we're absolutely not going to accept the poor quality product that is sent back, this outsourcing is going to continue as will the layoffs and turmoil for our families.

With all this bashing of management of companies, I'm curious, could one of the exceptionally wise people here please share with us how a business should be structured without any levels of management and be successful.

One last thing, the director wasn't a new announcement. That position change was first announced toward the beginning of the year.

I have a question about Smartype and I will try to make it so it is understandable:) I bought Instant Text because I had to have some way of moving my Smartype over into Word 2007 (I had Word 2002). I have Instant Text turned off until I learn the new platform on the new company I am with. My problem is this, the Smartype line will not move with the page so when I get to the bottom of the page it covers up everything at the bottom and I can only manually move Smartype by scrolling back up ...

Hi everyone I just wanted to stop by really quick and let you all know that finally, FINALLY I am off QA. I was given two accounts today in addition to the one they had initially given me. I can now type w/o counting my reports and waiting for feedback first. It remains to be seen of course, whether or not there will be as much work as I was told but so far, this company has been true to their word. Still, four days on a very restrictive QA protocol was quite scary. I am a LOT grayer now ...

Is it better to go with the tried-and-true Andrews or M-tec as opposed to a local community college that offers MT courses? I was thinking it would be better to stick with the former, but was intrigued by the fact that the local junior college seems to be promising "internships". I am working in Word 2007. I am trying to make a template that has a different first page top margin. Can anyone give me some help? I have searched on MT Stars but can't seem to find anything.
