I start 12/27, so I would love to hear how day 1 of training went. I know there were at least a few starting today. Especially the BeyondTXT platform. Thanks! Hope you all had a great day!

The training went great. She was very nice went over everything very clearly. BeyondTXT is a pretty easy platform. I don't think it is gonna be a problem. We were asked to log in after the training session and do 1 practice report. We were told not to worry about account specifics at all as we don't have them yet anyway. She was just wanting to see how we understood the platform right now. I did the report. It was very easy. That was it. I will be on the same time tomorrow for another training session and then will do a few jobs. She will send feedback via email on our training jobs. Once we hit 98% we are turned loose to work. I think I am going to like Transcend and BeyondTXT. :)

My daughter has a non-essential dentist appointment scheduled the afternoon of my 2nd day of training. I wondered if I need to reschedule the dentist. I will start training at 9:00 a.m.

It took 2 hours and then had to do a practice report.NM - blondie

A little confused--we get paid for 8 hours of training for the first few days, but we only work around 2 hours? I can dig that :)

If you can get the practice jobs and quiz done early enough afterwards, then you get your feedback promptly. There were only 4-5 in my class. My trainer is a lot of fun.

The training is quite thorough and probably the best so far compared to my other MTSO experiences. I had a quiz and 2 reports to do. I was really dismayed that there is no word expander program provided. I'm not looking forward to the expense of buying one and I'm not very tech savvy when it comes to downloading programs, getting them to open, etc. I may have to find another company that provides basic tools.

it will work with BeyondTXT. You can download a free 30-day trial. Then after the 30 days, you can buy a non-expiring license for 149.95, or a yearly license for only 29.95. I used this in my last job (it was a part of their platform) so I just downloaded the free trial for now. I find it pretty easy to use. Good Luck!

If I download Shorthand, do I just open it after BeyondTXT is opened and they work together? Will I need IT to help me? My last job provided Shorthand and it was easy to use. Thanks for the encouragement!

I use Shorthand every day with my job but the nice thing about it is that it's its own separate software apart from your work software so you don't need to be working in order to use Shorthand - you can use it anytime, even writing emails - it will correct common misspellings on the spot and will expand words to save lots of time no matter WHAT application you're using - even here, or on Facebook. Mine has a shortcut on my desktop that I click on in order to activate it. Once you activate it, a little icon appears in your taskbar so you know it's running. Then, it's ready to go when I'm working, or doing anything online. It doesn't interfere at all with anything that I'm doing online, whether I'm just browsing or anything else - so it should work with any software your company uses. the software is really unintrusive. I can't imagine using anything else now.

you can have it up and running before training resumes today. If you are good terms with your last employer, you could try asking the tech department to send you the file you created with your expansions. Then, you can just transfer it to the new Shorthand, and voila...no lost expansions. That was what I was able to do. Now, I won't have to re-enter everything. Good luck on day 2 today!

Looking forward to Day 2 of training. I'll be able to relax more when I get those expanders entered, plus I have already signed up for some free training classes offered by Transcend for editing. Looks like a great place to work.

The letter offers me to join in a lawsuit against Transcend. Have you received one, and if so, if you plan to join the lawsuit, would you share your reasoning? Do you think one might be "blacklisted" for joining such a lawsuit? Also, I do not understand how they can sue Transcend if it is now part of Nuance? ...

(1) Do you only fail if you fail a final at the end of the course, or are there tests throughout the course you have to pass to continue on? I assume if you do not pass a test to pass on, they cannot charge you for the course. (2) Did they ever tell you how much that would be? Unable to log on because DQS needs to be updated. Then can't update on DocuManage because there's no link. They tell me they someone will call back and help me, but they have no way of knowing when. DQS is driving me crazy today. When I push the pedal, it takes a couple seconds to start playing. If I let off the pedal, it keeps going for a couple seconds and I can't get it to stop. The typing I am doing does not keep up with my finger speed either, with words not showing up until after I've typed them. I use my own computer and have never encountered this issue before. It is a major hindrance though, slowing me down. What's next? ...
