Thanks! I'm getting anxious!
Third day - blondie

The third day training went smoothly. We had a 1-hour session on using the Timesaver that we record our hours we work in. After that, she told us we would not have to call in anymore to listen to training but would still be considered in training until we are released from full QA. She told us to do 5 jobs today and everyday until we get an email saying we are released from QA. She said this usually takes 5-6 days for most people. While you are doing training and the 5 reports a day, you are paid hourly. I THINK it is $10 an hour if I am not mistaken. I could be wrong, but I think that is it. While you are doing training mode with your 5 job per day quota, you work Monday-Friday instead of the regular shift they hired you for so that a trainer is always on hand to help you. So now I am just gonna be doing my 5 reports a day until I get notice that I'm released.
Thanks for the info. Do you think...sm - wasHappyMt

you are going to like Transcend? How user friendly is BeyondTXT? Please keep me posted. You can email me directly if it would be easier. Thanks again!
Transcend - blondie

I actually do think I will like Transcend. The trainer is very nice. BeyondTXT is user friendly. It is just different. I have mostly worked on Editscript, so I have to get used to a whole different platform. It is a lot different, but I am glad to say that the VR is not bad. I was afraid the VR might be crappy and I'd have to fix a lot, but actually it isn't bad. So far, it picks up the doctors as good as Editscript. One big difference in BeyondTXT than any other platform I've ever worked on is that it basically formats itself. You don't have to worry about capitalizing headers or putting colons, etc. It does it all when it is rendered at the client's facility according to how the client wants it. You just type. There is no having to number things like meds, etc. It does it itself. I like it so far.
My account is not like that at all. Must depend - on the client. SM

Hey Blondie,
I start training at Transcend on 12/27. I was told for the 1st two days we get $10 an hour, 8 hours each day--so are we paid for 8 hours even if we only work a few hours, as it seems people are only doing a few jobs a day after the training? Thanks :)
Transcend training pay - MountainMT

I understood differently than Blondie and I hope I am wrong. Recruiter told me I would be paid hourly for about 6 hours for the first week plus a production rate for the 5 daily reports. Training was only about 2 hours per day for 3 days or 6 hours total. It has taken me all day to do those 5 reports, but then I don't absorb new things very fast.

Going by what my trainer told me yesterday while we were training to use the Timesaver we put our worked hours into, she said when we put in our training hours to put in the hours we were in class/phone training, which was total about 4-1/2 hours alltogether for the 3 days in my case. Then she said keep track of how long you work on the 5 training reports a day and put that time in to be paid for that. It's according to how long it takes you to do those reports how many hours you get. In my case yesterday, it took me about 1-1/2 to 2 hours to do the 5 reports. But if it takes you longer then you will be compensated for your time. This is what I understood from my training anyway. :)
No you are paid for the hours you actually train.. - blondie

We went over that yesterday, and she said to put in the hours we had to call in for the training classes and the hours we worked on reports for training. So it won't be 8 hours a day while training. The phone training is anywhere from 1-2 hours each day for 3 days. Then however long it takes you to do 5 reports you would get that hourly also. She said most are on training QA for 5-6 days.
I start 12/27, so I would love to hear how day 1 of training went. I know there were at least a few starting today. Especially the BeyondTXT platform. Thanks! Hope you all had a great day!

please keep the rest of us MM coding trainee hopefuls the next time it is offered updated on how the training is going. How hard it is, if you have to study on your off hours, is the MM training good and organized, etc. Good luck to all of you and please keep the rest of us hopefuls posted on how it's going. ...
would you please come back here occasionally and update us on how things are going? I would love to know how this program works and how you all feel about it. I understand how posting on here you get attacked by rude people but I'm not one of them and would honestly like to hear your perspective on this program. A big thank you if you choose to keep us updated but I understand if you don't. Good luck to all of you. ...
I don't know why people want to rip me a new one over this, but
I would simply like to know if Mmodal treats it current coder employees (NOT ITS TRAINEES) any better than its treats ts MTs.
How may pay cuts have you had in the last 5 years?
How many benefits have you had cut?
What kiind of audit percentage do you have to meet?
Do you have a form of performance manages that cuts your salary in half?
Are you happy working as a coder for Mmodal?
Would you recommend Mmodal to any other c ...
(1) Do you only fail if you fail a final at the end of the course, or are there tests throughout the course you have to pass to continue on?
I assume if you do not pass a test to pass on, they cannot charge you for the course.
(2) Did they ever tell you how much that would be?
After all, it is not a credentialed for-profit coding school, they are probably using their already in-house employees as instructors, and they aren't providing any high dollar book material.  ...
What sort of schedule options were you given for after completion of the training phase and the apprenticeship phase? Is it M-F, night/days, holidays? Thanks for satiating a bit of curiousity. ...
Did VR develop Alzheimer's? It has lost everything. I am tired of no commas, periods, and everything else it reverted back to since its infancy. It is really true that now you can transcribe faster than you can edit. Does anyone even care? Do you know how many times you have to stop in the middle of labs to put in punctuation? This has been going on for over a month and I haven't noticed any big push to get it fixed. Just another way to m ...
Does anyone remember in the conference calls, mention of MDI/Transcend paying for unlimited long distance phone charges for employees? I remember this being mentioned but can't recall all the details; if it was for FT only, everyone, etc. Does anyone remember details and if that still stands? ...
I am curious as to if the TLs are meeting their requirements. They are expected to type 75-80% of their time and get paid by the line as well . I am very suspicious that they are not typing VR all day, having their work sent to India, etc, and are getting the straight typing. They get paid a flat fee per month for their administrative duties on top of that. I wonder if they are experiencing no work and looking at a blank screen most of their time& ...
job ad on the Seeker's board and it sounds like a place I would like to work. I work for a company also called Transcend, but they are not a place that I would recommend to anyone. I haven't worked all week as there has been no work. Just NJA. So maybe this Transcend is in a parallel universe. It certainly could not be the same place where I'm employed. ...
I have read dozens of posts on the board about Transcend, some good and a lot not so good. However, I think there is an explanation for some MTs loving it there and others hating it so much.
Transcend is a company made up of many other companies through mergers. The original Transcend who existed first, before acquiring other companies seems to be the problem. On the other hand, for example MDI/Transcend, for the most part does not seem to fit that description. You have to remember ...
I'm coming to the realization that unless I get faster with editing these VR reports, I am never going to be able to make the full-time production requirements at Transcend. I'm really freaking out. Is it really possible to do 300 lines per hour in VR? How long does it take to get faster with it? ...
Google Star Clip Itz Note Holder w/ Metal Rod & Alligator Clip to see exactly how much it cost Transcend per MT for this gift that bears so much thought and appreciation. Do they really not realize how it affects their corporate image when their priority is placed on spending $600,000+ on a failed business venture versus the amount spent to "appreciate" the motor that makes their business run? That's like spending more than a half million dollars to buy a garage to hous ...
I was with the company for over five years, not once failing to meet the requirements of me yet I was told my position would have to change to 2nd or 3rd shift if I wanted to keep my job as there were no positions available for 1st shift. Two days after resigning I see they are hiring for 1st shift positions on a typing only platform which is what I wanted. I just don't get it. ...
Our company was bought by Transcend and will start working for them in August. Can anyone tell me what their starting line rate is or their average cpl. ...
Could someone please tell me what it is possible to be earning in say 3 months at Transcend? VR and straight typing? I am trying to make an important decision, and you never know the true pay, what to expect in advance, how long to get highly productive, etc. Thanks in advance. ...
Did anyone else get the memo from Transcend (soon to take over from DTS) about the line rate change for the transitioning employees from DTS? It was elegantly written, but basically it said that when the accounts are switched over the VR that the line rates will decrease but productivity will increase and no cut in pay is expected. It is happening exactly how the posters on this board that have been through takeovers by Transcend said - decreased pay. I gave my notice already BT ...
It has been mentioned that Wmx has lost 2 large accounts that is the reason for people being let go. Transcend has mentioned in the last few months about acquiring a new large account in September. Was at least one of these 2 large accounts, if not both, acquired by Transcend??? ...
I have a phone interview with Transcend out of Atlanta and TTS out of New Hampshire today and next week. I've been working for the same MT company for over 8 years, but they're losing accounts and cutting our pay so I'm looking to possibly change jobs. Has anyone worked for Transcend or TTS? I'm scared to death to change jobs at this point. I know the problems and shortcomings of my current company. I switched jobs once before for a few months and found that all the promises ...
Transcend was supposed to take over on 04/01/2011, but I have heard nothing from anyone - no emails, nothing. I am still getting work though. Any news? ...
