Transcend production straight typing mixed with VR - Needtoknow

Hi,

I was hoping someone who works for Transcend could give me a round about of how many straight typing jobs you have versus VR. The VR is Escription. I am about to start with them, but I am nervous that I won't make any money. If you could give me an average of how many lines you get straight typing and how many come from VR? If you would like to email me that's fine.

My own production runs at least 75 percent VR.

But, it varies widely. Some dictators cannot be put on VR--but until you learn them, you won't be any faster on them straight typing than you would be with VR.

Whether or not you can make any money at VR versus straight typing also depends on how fast you are. Those of us who are scary-fast straight typists struggle to make up the difference on VR; whereas if you are not so fast to start with, you can make more money doing VR, and less wear and tear on the hands.

The only way to find out how it's going to work out for you, on your particular account, is to give it a try. Since you're just starting, you'll need to give it some time, to get accustomed to the platform and the dictators, as well. Best of luck!

Hi, I worked for Transcend earlier this year. I was doing great on straight typing, but when they put me on VR accounts, my production went WAY down. I tried it for 2 weeks, but I'm a really fast typist, and I could edit VR almost as fast as I could have typed the report, but at half the income. But VR is where the whole industry is headed. MTJobs.com's job listings are about half, if not more, for VR editors. If you're not a really fast typist to begin with, you'll probably do OK. I used to encourage people who were interested in MT, if I thought they had the natural abilities, but I don't recommend it to people anymore. Technology is going to take away a LOT of jobs.

Got new accounts for the last 2 weeks that are not ASR (yet) so have been doing about 90% straight typing. I have been averaging about $20 more per day than when I do ASR. Hmm, let's see. We get a letter from MQ extolling our virtues as MTs, more and more info about nationalizing the EMR with Verizon, etc. and I notice I'm not the only one getting less ASR, more direct typing. I have a pretty good and accurate typing speed, which has made me pretty good money in the past. Then along comes VR. I have had somewhat success with it, if the right dictation is placed on it. The problem comes in when a company tries to put anything and everything on VR that does not belong there. It defeats the purpose of using it in the first place.
