What is wrong with these companies! That type of transcription is a minimum of $1.00/min!! You have to look up so much drug terminology and who knows what the audio quality could be like. I can't believe they have the NERVE to offer $.07/A LINE!! And as usual, they are targeting the "newbies" who they can take advantage of, rip off and pay slave wages to - they are right up there with that other company who posts jobs for general transcription - the name of which escapes me presently. General transcription is not easy and these types of assignments are challenging!! You can't use expanders and there is no flow. Good grief! I'm so sick of these companies and their exploitation of us!!

Why get your panties in a wad? If you don't like the terms of the offer, don't take it. A company has the right to offer anything it wants to. You have the right to say no. As simple as Business 101. And no, I am not an MTSO.

...is because the right thing to do is provide support and insight, help/mentor those who don't know this is not an acceptable wage for this type of work, help all of us keep our wages up where they belong, and help others not get taken advantage of by their not knowing what a fair wage for this type of work would be and thus, this is achieved via EDUCATING those who could be taken advantage of by companies like these.

I do agree these companies can offer anything they want wage-wise, but it is up to us to help each other and those who may not know what a fair wage for a certain work type is - common decency and looking out for your neighbor (aka fellow transcriptionist no matter whether it's medical, legal or general) is the right/good thing to do. Maybe you have it good and don't care if others work for sub wages, but I do.

Companies can offer whatever they wish. Prospective employees can say yes or not. (I would say NO to this offer, too, BTW.) But companies are free to set their own prices. As my husband says, "That is how the free market economy works."

My team is required to be signed into a conference in Spark when working our account. That is not a bad thing, in fact it is quite educational because I am seeing just how ridiculous everything is. The account is verbatim, you only type a heading if it is dictated. I had a very odd thing happen last night, a doctor was complaining about the quick turnaround on the reports! Work has been very low at my company, which is the result of overhiring and having way too many MTs on the accounts, and my company does this purposely in order to get really quick (as in immediate) TATs.
