There are quite a few of these positions open and I am wondering if there is a high turn around for TLs because the extra money does not compensate enough for all the time required? If you are or have been a TL there, I would like to hear your thoughts.

I am not a team lead, and haven't been one, so I can only speculate. (Furthermore, I don't want to be one either.)

None of the leads on my team have quit, at least not recently.

I looked at those ads, and some of them named regions (and ROms) I have not heard of (and I've been around for quite a while) so I think perhaps they have opened some new regions, thus making room for some new leads. And there are always new accounts coming on board, which could also account for some of the openings.

I've been in management before (in other places), and there's a good reason why I'm out of it. I just don't like managing people. The extra money, to me, wouldn't compensate for having to deal with people, and far less to do with the extra time.

One great advantage of being a TL is that you have the ability to cherry-pick. Yeah, it seems unfair, but frankly, if I had to do what they do, I'd cherry-pick too. I remember one night quite some time ago when I e-mailed my TL about something I saw upcoming in the queue, and even though she hadn't been working, all of a sudden, all the upcoming "gravy" jobs disappeared all at once. I was quite sure I knew where they had gone, and frankly I couldn't blame her, although I was very disgruntled that I didn't get a shot at them myself, and ever since then, I haven't sent any similar e-mails...... :D

Anyway. There are a lot of variables to consider. If you like having more contact with people, it might be something to consider. However, if you're a confirmed hermit like me, don't.

committ to working around the clock. It's not a simple 8 hour day and you're done (not even a 12 hour day). You will be responsible for an entire team of MLS and making sure accts are in TAT. When you're short staffed, you'll be responsible to pick up the slack and get it done. On top of all your administrative duties (which is a FT job in itself) you are still required to get in and meet your production on top of that. Been there and done that and I'd never do it again.

Glorified QA position - Not worth it.

Honestly, for me, it was a big mistake. It was a glorified QA position with a LOT of responsibility but the pay was not in line with the duties. You are required strict production just like everybody else. They will hound you about production even if your lead duties take longer than they think they should. It was an awful experience for me. I felt like it was a step sideways from QA, just with a lot of duties dumped on you that you do not get true compensation for.

Heard a rumor that the CTL positions are being eliminated around the 15th. Perhaps this is a question you should ask your CCMs/area directors? Not sure if it is true but when asked specifically, it was not denied but there is something brewing around the 15th. Seems like all CTLs will be moved to the MME positions and the CCMs will assume the CTL duties. Sounds like another shake up at the Q which always happens around the holidays. Wonder if ...

Can anyone give me information on companies who hire IC's with a 24-hour turn around time? I want to get my work today and turn it in by a certain time the next day without having to work a schedule or in pools. Just wandering if there are any employee positions that aren't just editing out there. I feel like I am not growing as an MT doing nothing but editing. Unless I choose to just edit and accept this is the new norm at 3 cents a line, eventually getting my own voice recognition software for the future for any accounts I want to get on my own. I am looking for a true IC position where I can work when I am available due to being handicapped.
