It is unfathomable to me that as health insurance rises every year, this company goes year after year after year continuing the same contribution to its employees without even a tiny gesture to offset this. And don't even get me started on how long it has been since I received a raise, let's just say less than 10 years, more than 7. Last year I wrote a letter and they rewarded me with a bonus that was so indecently insulting that I almost sent it back to them (almost). Anyone else in the same boat?

There is no way on earth you could pay the insurance premium and have enough money left over to live. They are all bad, but the killer category is employee and spouse. Does anyone even get insurance through them? The most minimal Obamacare program would be better.

None of the MT companies have good healthcare premiums and/or coverage. You really are better to go on line and purchase from your state run coverage or national coverage under the new healthcare laws. THe probelm is that the government postponed the employer mandate for the healthcare law, but enacted the individual mandate - kind of backwards. Based on what I make at the MT service, $10 to $13 an hour if I'm lucky, I pay $37 a month for 0 deductible healthcare in California. If stayed with the employer I would be $199 a month for half the coverage and a huge deductible. Look into it!

If you are full time and/or your employer offers insurance coverage to you at 30 hours... you ARE NOT eligible for obamacare... your spouse cannot even apply. In other words, if you have the ability to get employer coverage, you and your spouse/family must take that coverage and are not eligible for the subsidy on obamacare... you would have to pay the full rate on the obamacare exchange without the subsidy which is expensive.

No you do not have to purchase employer coverage for your spouse, but they do have to have coverage from somewhere. Yes, they can apply for marketplace coverage but the subsidy will not apply because employer coverage is available through the spouse. I have tried and tried and despite reaching multiple levels of supervisors to be sure I understood the requirements through healthcare.gov this was their final determination. That or go part time so coverage was not available...

You can always shop for health coverage in the Marketplace. We checked into getting our own insurance rather than paying premiums through employer plan. We ended up with a much more reasonable premium as well as more options on how much of a deductible we could afford. Sometimes employers have little option in the plans they can obtain to offer their employees because their worker population is simply higher risk, which sadly is exactly our industry's situation. We're a very aging workforce, many with significant chronic medical conditions.

No, I didn't appreciate a bonus of less than 3 day's pay to make up for 8 years of not getting at least a cost of living increase each year. SS has doubled, maybe tripled in size and yet has decreased the average salary for MTs. There is something terribly wrong with that.

and with the minimum wage increasing to $15/hour,we are making less than that in an industry where mistakes could mean loss of life.

With this new healthcare reform, does this mean that outsourcing companies are going to have to provide health insurance to MTs? This is my first VR job. I cannot make enough lines to qualify for health insurance on it. This is the first time I have ever had this problem. I could easily exceed my line count with a straight typing job. The only way I could meet line count now is if I blaze through the jobs without proofreading and put out bad-quality jobs. Please correct me if I am wrong, but from what I have heard this insurance plan (BC/BS?) does not cover primary care office visits until you reach a 2500 dollar deductible, no copay anymore, paying for the whole visit??
