They hire and then lay off constantly. I was hired back in 10/07 and was laid off in 7/08, as were many others. They also outsource to other countries which I'm assuming is part of why I lost my job with them. I ALMOST quit my other job, but thank goodness I didn't!!

Dont let the name fool you. SPI America is owned by an overseas company, Philippines as I recall. They dont lay off as often as they should based on low work volume. Managers come and go about every 6 months. I worked there for almost 4 years and saw 5 managers come and go. Work load had dropped tremendously, and when I asked my account manager for a secondary, which I had but they LEFT the company, I was informed there was not enough work to go around so a secondary was out of the question. That was for over 6 months. I hear that not much has changed, but all in all when the work was there it was a good place to work, in my opinion anyway.
SPI - very, very tired

I used to work there. I would run very quickly in the opposite direction. They are the VERY worst place I have EVER worked, and I have worked for some pretty bad places.
I thought SPI was an Indian company - imanmt2

that specialized in database management and software development and launching, utilizing/contracting with Indians back "home" for writing, QA, and project management they also have a medical transcription concern.
They do, on occasion, bring the Indians over here to facilitate working with American leads/project managers, etc., from India. You know, "get the feel of it".
Does anybody know what SPI stands for? I'm not sure it stands for anything really.
I asked some questions below regarding DTS America and yet no answers. I see there have been 97 onlookers. Could someone please, please give me their experience, good or bad, with DTS America. I am just looking for answers. Ultimately I will make my own decision, but it is still good to communicate and learn of various experiences. I have tested and tested and tested, and would definitely love to not waste my time with a company that is truly bogus. I have ran ...
I was really interested in the position that you had until I read that you pay $.07/line with NO SPACES. It honestly sounds like some great work that I would love to do, but unfortunately your pay is too low and doesn't include spaces. Good luck! ...
Can anyone tell me about the reputation of Transcription-America.com?
They offer a training program if you buy their books for $60, and then their software equipment (foot pedal, software CD, etc.) for $495. They claim everything else is free. ...
I never run out of work, as a matter of fact, they call me almost daily to work extra. I've never had any problems with them, I do my job and do it well and they leave me alone. The only ones I ever hear from are the help desk, and again, it is always to work extra. They often send e-mails offering OT for certain accounts that tend to get backed up quite often. The pay is good and they offer incentive for both PT and FT. Just curious, did you get a job with the ...
Would really appreciate any information on DTS America in Brentwood, TN. Saw ad and thinking about applying, but would like to know if this is a bad company, then no need to waste my time. ...
Gotta love George Carlin; he doesn't mince words. As I listened to his monologue, I felt like he was describing most MTSO's, not just corporate America:

Okay, another end of pay period with not enough work to make line count. This is just not right. Is there anybody working for DTS right now, working their scheduled shift and making their line count? What is happening there? ...
Just received an email that Transcend has acquired DTS. Perhaps this will help all those with no work find work.... (yes, I grinned when I typed that). ...
So how is the merger going between DTS America and Transcend? Is Transcend keeping the promise that nothing will change - pay - accounts? Just curious..... ...
10 years ago today, I was sitting at my desk working as usual. I get a phone call from my boyfriend (2nd in command of PD here in LV) frantically asking me if I'm okay. I'm like what? I'm working why wouldn't I be? He asked I if had heard anything, to which I again said no, I am working. He told me to turn on the TV. I did and was absolutely HORRIFIED! That conversation, that moment, that realization of what had happened completely ch ...
Wondering if anyone has been able to use vacation time yet? Been so long since I heard anything. Supposed to be a "benefit" from the Service Contract Act. ...
Has anyone worked for America's Pride? They seem like they would be a great place to work. I was wondering whether it is difficult to make the minimum line count and how the doctors were to transcribe for as far as being difficult to understand, etc. ...
I had applied to transcriptionamerica.com. I received an email back from a Nancy Lawson, National recruiter asking me to transcribe a sample file. I did this and when I tried to email it back to the address that she sent it from, I keep getting a failed delivery notice saying that the person's inbox is full. Does anyone know if this is a legitimate company? And if so, do you know any other way that I can get in touch with them to email this sample back to them? Thank you so much! ...
I heard through the grapevine that there are mandatory company meetings at DTS America today, but haven't gotten any email regarding this. Is this bad for me not knowing or bad for the ones that do? During a company buyout it is always fearful to get an email with a company meeting because, from what I have heard in the past, that is when you get the layoff.
Any info appreciated! ...
