SOFTSCRIPT paid me less than minimum wage. I worked there for a short time after they hired me with their bait & switch scam. In the two months I was there, I had many days where it was IMPOSSIBLE to produce a decent line count, and on those days they paid me by the line even though it was less than minimum wage. This is illegal and now I am working with my state labor department. STAY AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS!

I think Soft Script only hires employees. It is illegal to pay employees less than minimum, but if you're IC it's not illegal.

because I don't think it works that way. I think as long as your average hourly pay for 40 hours equals or exceed your state's minimum wage it is okay. You may have days when you don't make minimum, but then days when you exceed minimum, so it averages out. I have had days when I have been just a bit under my state's minimum of $9/hour but then other days when I go over it by a dollar or so. In the end, I'm making just a little bit over minimum for my state. I'd be very interested to know how your state DOL resolves this issue for you, what they said and what they did.

I am by no means defending this company because I can't meet the required 135 lph because of the lousy platform, which any other company I could type 200 lph or more! BUT even doing less than the required line count I am getting 12.75 an hour. so what is your minimum wage in your state? and trust me I am at all not happy with 12.75/h when we USED to make 27 and hour.

Minimum wage...200 lph, 250, 600 VR and 7 to 3 cents. However you slice it up, we get the crumbs to the pie.

A $15.00 minimum wage would equate to 375 lines per hour at .04 per line. That's 3000 lines a day for an 8 hour day! The best I have ever done was 2700 lines editing in an 8 hour day and that was only once and someplace where I had been doing the same doctors for 6 years. I have heard in various places on these boards that if you are supposed to work full-time and your pay (by the line or character) doesn't equal minimum wage for those hours, you can get unemployment even though you still have a job. If our skills are valued the same as fast food workers, then why do they require at least one year's experience as an MT to be hired? Why do newbies have to have gone to school?
