Response to ads - billiedee

Can anyone tell me if they ever get a response when applying for positions? I never seem to hear back from any of them.
I've sent out about 15 resumes lately and - sm

I've heard from only one company, and they want to pay me 7 cents a line and 3 cents for VR. I am tempted to take it since nothing else is looking promising. I remember the days when the job board was full of ads on a daily basis and I would send out a resume and be hired within a few days after testing. Not anymore :(

I agree, in the past everyone seemed to give a response quickly. Nowadays, you wonder if your resume got there or got lost in cyberspace. I have been in this field for 35 years and can't believe all the changes. I used to make a very good income, but not anymore....so sad.
There are more of us out there now.... - looking for a job since ours was shipped out.

That means every ad posted here probably receives 3 times more resumes than they ever did. Companies don't call you back because they would tied to their phones for weeks.
I really find it hard to believe that all of these US hospitals and physicians realize that they are hiring a US company to do their transcription but it is ultimately being transcribed overseas.
I'm making it my mission to directly speak with PHYSICIANS to let them know that United States medical transcriptionists are NOT doing their reports AND these so-called US companies are putting United States MTs out of jobs.
I will say that I've spoken with at least 50 physicians since January of this year and their office staff and the majority of them had NO CLUE that there are "supposedly" US companies transcribing work off shore and letting them believe it was being done here in the US.
It's time to stand up and speak out but not to administrators of the hospitals. THEY (the hospitals)along with these deceitful companies are the ones keeping the big secret. It makes for a better bottom line to be able to pay cents on the page instead of dollars and deal with the fallout of bad transcription later.
This is just MY honest opinion. Whether or not you share it is your own business.
Good luck. Transcription is a major expense, and I - suspect a lot of the supposed

shock at finding work may be offshored would be less sincere than the dismay at all their money pouring out in transcription costs.
Not saying you shouldn't try, but the bottom line is dictators want good reports back, but they're not going to care all THAT much from where. Not if it stems the money hemorrhage a bit.
It's also self deception to refuse to believe offshored reports can't be good. Just like here, some MTs are excellent, some are pigs. Some companies market highest standards, some market lowest prices. Some systems are HIPAA-compliant, some are not.
I agree. Doctors don't care. - sm

I haven't had much luck getting a job either, so I thought I would try to land my own accounts. I was talking to a doctor who said he makes $150,000 a year, but his malpractice insurance is $100,000 a year! That is incredible! So this physician is only taking home $50,000 a year. How much of that do you think he wants to spend now on transcription? What should be his priority? Keeping records in the US or putting food on his table. I live in Hawaii and I can tell you $50,000 does not go far here.
Here's an idea...sm - Scoobie-Doobie

If you could supply us with a professional telemarketing script we could all make the same call in our area. If everyone pitched in and made a few calls, we might could make a difference.

I am sorry you are having to face this, as are so many MTs. We are in a Depression, not a Recession. The times have really changed and it is not our fault. Good luck to you. God bless you.
Better than my offer of 4 cpl for straight transcription! Yikes! - About ready to give up.

I have never had a problem getting hired either. In fact, I used to get multiple offers and could pick between them. Now I have only gotten two responses from companies telling me I scored very well on their tests but the open positions they had were filled. I did receive one offer for 4 cpl for straight transcription, but no way will I work for that! I think it is time to pack it up and return to school. Only what other field is in demand? Around here there are no jobs at all. Local paper has a total of 6 jobs, and 2 of those aren't really jobs, but network marketing schemes. There is nothing here. :(

Plenty of responses and offers - lucky i guess

I was let go along with several others from our company last month, too much going to India. I started sending out resumes right away and had offers from every company I tested with, and MQ keeps calling and emailing wanting me to test. I just began working for a company that had not posted, but sent my resume off and was asked to test. Guess the timing must have been right for me. Good luck out there!

If you do not want to discuss this, I will understand. Just tell me to mind my own business. But I am curious. I bet you are a grad of one of the good, legitimate schools, right? Just a theory. In any event, congratulations and good luck on the new job.
I'm just curious if others are in the same boat as I am. I have almost 10 years experience as an MT, both acute care and clinic, and I have been sending my resume to many of the job postings on this board. I think I have received two replies out of probably 20 resumes sent. Is this pretty much the way it is for others, or do I need to tweak my resume? Thanks! ...
"You might want to consider re-wording your job posting and re-think your position as you can find yourself in serious trouble with the IRS regarding requiring an independent contractor to work a set schedule. You are wanting an employee, not an independent contractor, if that contractor has to work a set schedule and 'has to work over.' The IRS will come down pretty hard on you...especially if someone sends them a copy of your job posting. So you understand ...
Has anyone been able to get a response from DIT? Please let me know because I certainly have not. This place is the worst. What is really terrible is that continue to keep hiring new MTs and promise them that everything is now okay. They are just a bunch of people not telling the truth. ...
Just thought you all would like to read this response to a resume I recently sent out.... and what would your feelings be concerning what you read?
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in providing Transcription services for our company. I have received your resume.
I have put some information in the body of the email as well as attached our templates and sample reports so you can see what the reports look like.
I would like to mention to you a few things so you can make an info ...
Does anyone out there have a suggestion as to what a "prompt" response should be for a resume that was sent out? I do not like waiting weeks or months to get a response. ...
"An exercise stress test was performed and she was able to exercise for approximately 8 minutes, utilizing a brief protocol, to a maximum heart rate of 156 per minute. It was an appropriate (s/l anatropic or maybe autotrophic) response." I am unsure what word he is dictating here. ...
Yeah for sure. what goes does it do to send resumes to these jobs posted here, when you get NO response... I realize they have more resumes than they can probably go through, but when they look at the top of your resume (where it should be) and see you have had over 25 years experience - you think they'd contact you first, yeah whatever. Not sure, but know MT jobs are scarce!! ...
about wage disputes? I emailed two days ago about a payment I was supposed to receive the 15th (and still have not), and have not heard about any kind of resolution or anything and of course no pay still and no check in the mail. ...
About to send off this e-mail to my ROM or whatever she's calling herself these days....Subject: QA questions, just to be sure I have it straight....
We really, REALLY need to get a ruling from the client on this stuff. In writing.
In the last missive I got from QA, I was told that the only symbol allowed on ***** was the percent sign; thus, if they dictated 2+, I was to type 2 plus.
Aside from the fact that I've been typing plus signs on ***** reports for 4 ye ...
Sorry...you had asked me a question but I've been away for a couple days. Yes, Home Health/Hospice is more flexible as far as scheduling. For the most part, we set up our own schedules, call the patients ourselves with times we expect to be there, and then if by some chance we get done early we aren't required to hang around to get our 8 hours in.
That being said, it's a brutal job. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't have some solid acute ca ...

I've sent out a few resumes over the past year in hopes of landing a different MT job than the one I have now. Only ONE place (a hospital I would dearly love to work for!) even acknowledged my application. The others? NOTHING. Even though they continued to run ads for the same job I had applied for. I never even got to test for any of them.
So.... fast forward a few months (or years). Suppose one of these no-response companies kept my resume and out ...
Got to thinking about this, wouldn't this be something agreed upon (contract?) before starting with the company? Otherwise, threatening to fire you for not responding to an email sounds like a ripe labor law violation. Wrongful termination? Bait and switch? Plain unethical. ...

Anyone see the ad on this and another job board about needing an MT who speaks FRENCH? What the heck has our industry come to that MTSOs will suck up to any foreigner and do ANYTHING whether it's right or not just to make a fast buck. The medical record is supposed to be on the chart in English in this country for legal reasons. I hope if anyone here speaks French they DON'T apply. Let's keep to American values!

company and my pay was cut 23% at one time. You say good management-this company has a rep for this kind of stuff. Do you think it is good management when accounts run out of work daily because they are only overflow (almost all accounts with this company are overflow) and are overstaffed to stay in TAT-I had 5 accounts and still didn't have enough work? Do you like pulling teeth to get work and/or answers because there is only 1 (ONE) person dishing out work who has the persona ...
Is anyone familiar with a term that sounds like filvic response or philvic response? I cannot find in any of my resource dictionaries, probably because I am misspelling it. Thank you for any help. ...
I have gotten a very good response to my resume on here. It seems things might be loosening up a bit. Do other people feel that way also. I think I got about 7 responses in a week or so. That isnt bad. I havent decided what I want to do yet but I felt good about that. ...
Blondie, Opti-Script does allow satellite. They have a few openings on the Job Board right now and although it does not say that in their ads, when you go to their website it says satellite allowed but not preferred. Also Precyse allows satellite but I do not recommend that company. But maybe that's just me! Good luck! ...
