Response To - A Resume Sent
Posted: Mar 19, 2015
Just thought you all would like to read this response to a resume I recently sent out.... and what would your feelings be concerning what you read?
Hello,
Thank you for your interest in providing Transcription services for our company. I have received your resume.
I have put some information in the body of the email as well as attached our templates and sample reports so you can see what the reports look like.
I would like to mention to you a few things so you can make an informed decision regarding working with ****.
We pay 4 cents per line for the first 9 days.
We then pay 5 cents per line.
It is a 65 character line.
We have the template so when a physician dictates you can enter in the information under the appropriate heading. The template does not figure in to the pay but does make it easier to type more dictations.
The template only contains headings.
You are assigned to the pool of transcriptionists. When you begin work, you will see a report in your inbox ready to be typed. Once you begin the dictation, you can only stop for 20 minutes unless you put the dictation on hold. Otherwise, if you stop for more than 20 minutes the dictation will go back into the pool and you will lose the work you have done. I can discuss this with you once you are ready to transcribe. You can type as many reports as you are interested in working. The one requirement is that you must type on one or both of the weekend days as most of our physicians work on Saturday and Sunday. It's okay if you only type on one of the days. It's vital that the work be done on one of the two day. The turnaround time on reports is 24 to 48 hours.
I have transcriptionists who have been with us for a long time and say they enjoy the work. They can work on their schedule so it's most convenient.
I would have only got to the 5 cents per line - nana7

and would have gone no further with that one. I assume its straight typing so that is horrible pay and then required to work 1-2 days of your weekend too for 5 cents per line. If I was an MTSO I would be embarrassed to send that to someone wanting work. We need to inform them work equates decent pay and that is anything but decent.
Cheap line rate...SM - Old Anon

template or not, it's not enough. Who in their right mind would start a job and not put it on hold, then leave it for more than 20 minutes. They deserve to have it sent back to the pool. I don't blame the owner for having that policy. Working one weekend day is pretty normal. Sounds like you have a choice of which one you work. Wouldn't be a problem for me. But 5 cents a line, no way.
Isn't this for the recent job posting, and it's all VR, right? - sm

If so, then 5cpl is actually a penny more or so than the going rate.
No, it is not for a - recent job posting

This was for a job from a different site, and no it is no all VR. It is straight typing, does not include the template lines. I am the OP. I thought it was horrendous! I will not be answering back.. I am not "entry level," and as much as I need the work, I do not need to work for nothing either. I just wanted opinions. I got them. Thank you.
5 cpl - bettie

Just shows again how bad the industry for us has gotten, and how much respect we are treated with, paying us as little as they can.
OP - Again

I know. I was SO tempted to write back and ask if they thought they were in India, but thought I had better not. Some of the wording in the response also reflected perhaps someone from another country. You have to be very careful these days.
my response would have been - NotNewMT

A bluntly worded no thank you with the explanation that the pay was by no means appropriate. Nor was I interested in working like a slave by doing "as many reports as you are interested in working" to make up for a low pay range. They would also need to explain their 24-48 turnaround time, as that's the company's problem, but a subcontractor.

Can't Seem To Get A Response Apr 01, 2010I'm just curious if others are in the same boat as I am. I have almost 10 years experience as an MT, both acute care and clinic, and I have been sending my resume to many of the job postings on this board. I think I have received two replies out of probably 20 resumes sent. Is this pretty much the way it is for others, or do I need to tweak my resume? Thanks! ...
This Is A Response I Sent To An For A RAD IC May 18, 2010"You might want to consider re-wording your job posting and re-think your position as you can find yourself in serious trouble with the IRS regarding requiring an independent contractor to work a set schedule. You are wanting an employee, not an independent contractor, if that contractor has to work a set schedule and 'has to work over.' The IRS will come down pretty hard on you...especially if someone sends them a copy of your job posting. So you understand ...

Response To Resumes Feb 04, 2011Yeah for sure. what goes does it do to send resumes to these jobs posted here, when you get NO response... I realize they have more resumes than they can probably go through, but when they look at the top of your resume (where it should be) and see you have had over 25 years experience - you think they'd contact you first, yeah whatever. Response To MT To RN Post Below Mar 08, 2013Sorry...you had asked me a question but I've been away for a couple days. Yes, Home Health/Hospice is more flexible as far as scheduling. For the most part, we set up our own schedules, call the patients ourselves with times we expect to be there, and then if by some chance we get done early we aren't required to hang around to get our 8 hours in.
That being said, it's a brutal job. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who doesn't have some solid acute ca ...

Re: No Response To Job Applications, Resumes Sent: Feb 24, 2010I've sent out a few resumes over the past year in hopes of landing a different MT job than the one I have now. Only ONE place (a hospital I would dearly love to work for!) even acknowledged my application. The others? NOTHING. Even though they continued to run ads for the same job I had applied for. I never even got to test for any of them.
So.... fast forward a few months (or years). Suppose one of these no-response companies kept my resume and out ...
Requiring Email Response In 5 Min Jun 01, 2010Got to thinking about this, wouldn't this be something agreed upon (contract?) before starting with the company? The Ad Is True. The Response Is A Parody. Aug 13, 2010Anyone see the ad on this and another job board about needing an MT who speaks FRENCH? What the heck has our industry come to that MTSOs will suck up to any foreigner and do ANYTHING whether it's right or not just to make a fast buck. The medical record is supposed to be on the chart in English in this country for legal reasons. I hope if anyone here speaks French they DON'T apply. Let's keep to American values!
