I tested and passed with Precyse and was interviewed twice and offered a position and accepted. I have received 3 acceptance letters, a start date, and an email stating my equipment is on the way. I was called by HR saying they are getting ready to run the background check and wanted to know what charges I had to make certain it meshes with what they uncover. Of course I am crazy anxious about this, but it also just all seems like a very chaotic hiring system. Shouldn't all of this have been done PRIOR to offering me a job and giving starting dates with equipment on the way??? Geez. I won't sleep tonight out of fear of talking to them tomorrow. Any thoughts?

They have sent me the foot pedal, but it seems like an act of congress to get all the necessary from them and instructions on what I need to do. I'm about ready to just send the foot pedal back and tell them to forget it.
If we keep going at this rate, it will be months before I ever start working with them.
In your situation, a background check should have been discussed up front and not thrown at you at the last minute. It almost sounds manipulative. Do you have to pay for this?

[ In Reply To ..]I am sorry you are going through all of that...I think these companies do this to us because they CAN. It's not as if we need a paycheck is it? lol. When they sent the acceptance letters it stated my employment was contingent upon a background check (but why an acceptance letter without running that first), but I assumed they had already ran it and I passed since I had faxed them 25 forms and equipment was on the way. I freaked out today when she said that on the message. No, and I would not pay for it either. They run no credit check or drug test, but a background check. Ughhhh. Oh well. This too shall pass.

I have an interview with another company today and if they have their stuff together more than Nuance, then I may just jump ship before ever fully boarding ;)

[ In Reply To ..]I just started working for them (2nd week-done with training). I couldn't find my SS card, and they worked with me till my new one came in, even though I missed the "deadline." If your computer is on the way, it will be fine.

I remember thinking how unique it was then LOL, but now like I mentioned on another thread even Dollar General and McDonald's runs background checks of varying degrees.

I worried the same as you, but I don't think it is that big of a deal. Since they are sending you equipment, they probably just want to make sure you have no convictions for theft or whatever (just a guess, I have no knowledge of why). I hope it is worth it. I starved at Diskriter, but I hope Precyse is a better employer.

I went to work for them a few years ago and quit because I was only doing 1-2 hours a day for a couple weeks going through the University and waiting for things to be approved in order to move on and was not making any money, got fed up and quit. I finally cut ties with the Q after being returning to work for them and finding them not to be the company they once were or the pay was not the same.
