Few weeks ago, was a post about MTSO late with checks - because of the heat. I thought SM

if that is the post you were referring to, they were not late due to heat, they were late due to the power outages on the east coast. If you meant another company, then I am not sure what their excuse was.

Well, why not share your information? You are anonymous. I work there and it's been low. If you can't tell us the scoop, don't tease us.
No scoop. Just ironic they claimed weather was cause of late - checks when weather usually SM

Isn't that ironic?!!! She just e-mailed us out of courtesy to say they MIGHT be late. Her power came back on and she was able to get them out in contracted time!

the storms, and as someone pointed out, the checks were deposited at the same time they would have been anyway. It is a great company and they pay faster than any place I have ever worked for. Normally when the pay period ends, I have had to wait a week or more for payday, but at OTI she does payroll the day after pay day and then my check is deposited 2 days later. I wish the pay could be a little more, but otherwise I have no complaints with the company at all.
Oops .. I meant she does payroll the day after the pay period ends. nm - COMT

Because of end of (insert season of your choice), beginning of (insert season of your choice), school getting ready to end, school getting ready to start, beginning of holiday season, ending of holiday season, bad economy so people can't afford doctor visits, good economy so doctor's traveling more, power outages in (insert 3rd world country of your choice), platform needs work, platform being worked on, start of (insert natural disaster of your choice)season, end of (insert natural disaster of your choice) season, residents getting ready to start, residents getting ready to graduate, ad infinitum. Oh yeah, and can't forget that great ole standby that started this thread --- BAD WEATHER.
What I have always wondered is how - sm

does the health care industry get everyone to not get sick/injured during times of bad weather or hold off getting sick/injured on holidays, or put off that emergency surgery til after the kids get in school? People get sick/injured when they get sick and injured. It is not predictated on the time of year or the weather. Maybe specialities like plastic surgery have slow times of year, but I know my family doctor and my gyno I have to make appts very far in advance because they are so busy. Free clinics are crazy busy and those records have to be processed just the same as any medical record. And hospitals, especially teaching hospitals, see people every day. If the work is slow, it is not because it is a snowy day or school is getting ready to start. It is because the work is being done somewhere else, cheaper.

No one "puts off emergency surgery." I don't know about every facility, but across the board admissions for elective stays are down because so many people are unemployed and have lost their health insurance. Also, during the summer months families go on vacation, so do doctors and they are not around to see people. After school starts it can get busy again with sports physicals and children getting injured at school and at sporting activities (football). At the end of the year it can get busy because people want to meet their deductibles before they have to start over. Some places use point and click so that means less work. There are a lot of variables, don't just assume that your work is being done elsewhere, cheaper, until you know for sure.
Oh, pulleeeze. I do KNOW for sure. Just look around. Ppl w/o insurance - just go to ER. And point/click SM

means working is getting done cheaper, but not by US MTs. And the doctors that go on vacation, they have other doctors covering for them. Illness/injury pays no attention to the calendar. CEOs do pay attention to the bottom line and will send the work anywhere it can get done cheaper, and that isnt in the United States.

Are you serious? I just accepted a part-time position with this company to try to make up for a recent mysterious loss of work at my first company. I was so hoping this would be the last week I had to sit around staring at my computer screen waiting for work..very discouraging news!

Depends on the account you are on. Generally, feast or famine seems to be the norm. If your account is a backup for others when they run out of work on their primary account, you will run out of work more often. You need to ask how many ICs work on your account and if there are also hospital MTs involved so you can get an idea of how much work there will be. You will also find dictators change frequently – it appears the good ones (the ones you can make $ on) get sent elsewhere and the bottom of the barrel, which are too numerous to count, are a daily occurrence. Good luck!

Thanks for the information..I didn't ask any of those questions, was just so happy to have found something! I will be sure to ask those questions when I train this week! The 3 jobs they have you do after training..do you only do 3 a day until you are cleared by QA as well, or is that just for training day?

Unless it has changed, 3 a day until cleared by QA.

Tax Question. I Got Done Working For A Small MTSO Last January But She Was Late In Paying Me The La Dec 26, 2009so I did not get the checks until sometime in January/Feb. She never sent my 1099 on time when I worked for her so I doubt I will even get one this year unless she decides to say she paid me more than she really did (which I would not put past her). Do I have to claim the money she paid me in 2009 even though I should have received it in 2008?? With the two paid in 2009 that should have been paid in 2008 ($488.25) and the two that were supposed to be paid in 2009 ($418.25).&nbs ...

MTSO's - Why Do None Of You Ever Post Your CPL You Are Paying Dec 31, 2013Seriously. Why do you withhold this information? Would it not make more sense to post that right at the start so people know if they are even willing to test with you?
It wastes your time, doesn't it, to review tests and resumes if your pay rate is not acceptable to people? Or it wastes someone else's time to grade the tests, then wastes the hiring person's time to review the information and make an offer if someone knows they won't ...

Anyone Know About Final Checks . . . WEEKLY Q/A Checks Dec 03, 2014During the video presentation, she said we would now have weekly QA checks. This means, in essence, that you can type all week with less than 10% QC submission, and a great QA score, and have it ruined with just 1 critical error, which typically gives you a QA score of under 89% if it is a report with less than 30 lines. Then it would be a cut in pay because your converted (lower) lines would be multipled by 7 cents, yes all of the lines. I don't know about you, but if I h ...

Late Pay Apr 30, 2013I need some advice. I am an IC who works for a transcription company and is constantly being paid late. I am currently 4 months behind on pay.
