Does anyone know of any hospitals that hire directly for employees to work at home? I am looking for full-time employment with benefits - NOT through an MTSO. I don't care if it is hourly or per-line pay. 18+ years of experience.

If you havent already, might try the Catholic Hospital system. In my area, they advertise for nearby states as well on their local site.

Most in-house are all gone. Services have taken over. - Thing of the past.

You are asking for a lot really and the hospitals have always been trying for the past 30 years to rid themselves of 'non-patient contact' employees. Their first plan was to off-site the offices. Now with rising costs of medical and higher wages to the physicians and the CEOs...the cuts were in any department they could get services so that it comes out of a 'different budget.' Gone are transcription departments. Good luck finding one. The Catholic hospital here in the Midwest was the first to lay off and close the department.

We were told it is good business to have services and not the burden of employees--saves money--hospitals are all about saving money--because they care!

Thanks - I've been watching several sites on a daily basis (several times per day) and checking out the individual larger hospital websites. I know there are still hospitals out there keeping things in-house but allowing you to work at home, it's just a matter of finding them! If anyone seriously knows of any hospitals that do hire full-time with benefits and allow you to work at home, I would really appreciate a private email from you - I have been happily and successfully working on my own private accounts as a self-employed 1099 for most of my 18 years, but as a single, now 58-year-old woman have realized that I need the stability and benefits that would come from being a full-time employee, preferably with a hospital. :)

I worked for MQ full time and then went to part time last year, before finally quitting altogether because of health problems. Does anyone care to share that if you are hired at optiscript part time will they let you change to full time easily? I know they are a small company and do not over hire so I do not know how easily this could be done. It seems to me that full-time IC is a contradiction. I mean, in order to really be an IC, per IRS, don't they indicate that you should have more than one client? So, if one client requires full-time, that means you have to work more than full-time in order to keep everyone happy?
