Looking for a new job! Opinions about Acusis, Ascend, and Keystrokes? - Chickadee

Hi everyone! Long time, no see! I've been around the boards for years (since I started MT school back in 2000). There have been a lot of changes in my life over the last few years--changes for the good. I lost weight, got divorced, and now have a new boyfriend :).

I've been working in-house for the last few years and really want to go back to working from home. My kids are all older (3 teens!) and require very little supervision, so I can only imagine it will be much easier working from home now!

I'm trying to find a job that will allow me to flex my hours and has few (well, less than 20%) ESL docs. (Hey! I can hear you all laughing and saying, "Yeah! Don't we all!") Well, hopefully the pay will be good too...lol...but seriously, I'm hoping for 9 cpl as that is what my last at-home position paid (but that was over 3 years ago...it would be awesome if I were to get more than that now!).

I applied at the 3 companies listed above, but am open to any suggestions you all might have (and would definitely welcome any personal emails you might like to send me with any job leads). I have 10 years' experience. My accuracy is excellent and my speed is adequate as well (probably average 175 per hour). My email address is feliciascheel at hotmail.com.

Welcome back! Alot has changed and will probably get worse before it gets better. I remember being at 11 cpl six years ago but that was then, this is now! I believe 7-8 cpl seems to be the norm for new hires and really experience (past the "minimum of 3 years") seems to not be making a higher difference either. Good luck!

Beware anyone thinking about working for Ascend! They are extremely unorganized and chaotic. I don't know why they make you submit invoices - which are very time consuming to prepare - when they will just pay you something different or not at all. They shorted my first paycheck by 1/3. When I was finally able to get in touch with someone, they did send me the adjustment.... but I have not received my last paycheck at all!!! I have tried to contact them several ...

If you want to be paid for any work you do I would not advise working for this company. I have not been paid for "phase I" of the transcribing we were supposed to do which was supposed to be paid last week, evidently there are others according to the main board. This company hired for an account that was supposed to be started but evidently has not, they are feeding the MTs 10 reports at a time so you get a total of 30 reports in each phase as they call it for a stipend of 200, however, they ...

I have seen some posts where people want to know about Acusis. I will tell you what I know and about my recent experience with them. The Human Resources person, Susanna Sovek,is located in Pennsylvania. My supervisor was located in California. The IT folks are in India and the CMT's are all over the place.
