Any comments on working as an editor for Ascend? I am an editor/AM now and possibly looking to change jobs soon.
Thanks!

They have been very nice to me, plenty of work on the accounts I have. You really need to know how to operate an FTP program and jump in there on your own without much instruction.
Good luck getting paid....or getting a response from ANY email you send or voicemail for that matter - Check is in the mail NOT!

As far as the poster who put good luck getting paid, you have a window to send your invoice in and you receive confirmation that this has been received. You also get another email stating when checks are going to be sent. As for any other, you better be good on your own because you get dumped in there with NO help, maybe 10 minutes of instruction in total. Then when you have a question, you get a nastygram saying you were already told this, even though you have all mail showing no you did not. If you have a problem, you are not given any type of contact information, no information on company email, you have to beg for account information. If there was a trainer person to handle all this, it would be great, but unfortunately you are left high and dry.

I have a friend and a friend of that friend who both work there and both have gone as long as 3 pay periods without pay. One editor has retained an attorney, gone to the labor board, etc., just recently. Sounds like the company has some work to do regarding invoicing - like automated perhaps? I think some people get paid and some do not.

That's what I was told, there are a few who have never missed a payday according to them, others who never know if they will get paid this time or not. You get no names of who does what, payroll, accounting, etc., and they absolutely do not answer anything. The word is they are in danger of losing a major account and I can see why, the quality was the worse I've ever seen in my entire career and there's nobody to handle it.
They owe me for work done in July. I have sent 4 invoices with no pay as of yet! Do you know where I should report this?

Can anyone give me some up-to-date information on Ascend. The archives are saying stay away from this company, but it would be nice to hear from someone recent. Please feel free to email me or post it here. Thanks!!!!!!!! ...
Does anyone have experience with this company?? Their ad doesn't give a whole lot of information. It doesn't state whether it is IC or employee status, and no mention of benefits. Would like to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly! If anyone knows either by personal experience or word of mouth I would greatly appreciate letting me know. Thanks! ...
The day we suddenly ran out of work in early February was when another MTSO got the account. For my fellow MTs who are suffering from no work from that account, you can go to TTS, who is still hiring for it. Line rate for employees .01 cent less than TT but they pay headers, which TT did not. You can make the same (.01 cent more if you decide to be an IC rather than employee). I hope this info can help some who need the work and no longer have it. Doubt IMEDX will ever g ...
Beware anyone thinking about working for Ascend! They are extremely unorganized and chaotic. I don't know why they make you submit invoices - which are very time consuming to prepare - when they will just pay you something different or not at all. They shorted my first paycheck by 1/3. When I was finally able to get in touch with someone, they did send me the adjustment.... but I have not received my last paycheck at all!!! I have tried to contact them several ...
Has anyone worked or works for Ascend Health Care. Our local hospital just entered into a three year contract with them with an anticipated 52 million lines for the life of the contract. I had applied at the hospital but they were not hiring and i guess that was the reason why. ...
I've read all the info I could find in the archives but don't see much within the last year or so on Ascend.
Can anyone provide me with more recent info re pay, supervisors, flexibility, work volume, etc? Also any info on ESL % would be great.

Was wondering if anyone took the test with Epilog who were recruiting for Ascend Healthcare. I was told I passed the test, would hear further, and nothing now for almost two weeks. Anyone out there have recent experience with them. Thanks. ...
If you want to be paid for any work you do I would not advise working for this company. I have not been paid for "phase I" of the transcribing we were supposed to do which was supposed to be paid last week, evidently there are others according to the main board. This company hired for an account that was supposed to be started but evidently has not, they are feeding the MTs 10 reports at a time so you get a total of 30 reports in each phase as they call it for a stipend of 200, however, they ...
This is my yearly ode to all of you during MT WEEK, and I want to again express my humble opinion. For just a few minutes, please put aside your depression and anger at your profession and just take a deep breath and listen to what I have to say.
I am truly awed by what you all do. What other profession would you have to be a medical terminology specialist, pharmacology specialist, English language expert, AND a computer/software expert all in one? There is no other pr ...
Since VR, do companies still hire "editors" or QA to review/fix the reports done by MT on the VR? If so, what is salary like. Is it hourly/by line and production? How is the job itself? Any info appreciated. ...
I've been an MT for many years but I am new to SR editing and I am feeling kind of incompetent. Today it took me 45 minutes to edit 1 note which was 57 lines long I've worked for 5 hours today so far and I have 500 lines. For any MTs out there who switched over to editing, how long did it take you to get up to speed with it and earning a decent hourly wage? For the experienced editors, about how many lines do you edit per hour?
I do like the com ...
I'm back to editing after a few years away from it and can't believe how bad the software still is. The company I worked for 3 years ago used better software and the drafts were not that bad. Now I'm with a different company using not the best editing software. Not sure what the docs are using, but the VR really does a bad job, even with very good dictators. On words it doesn't understand it ignores them and then picks up when it understands it again. The errors it is makin ...
I started a new client for an MTSO recently. One ESL dictator's H&Ps are so out of order they require a ton of reformatting. This is the order he dictated: History of Present Illness, Past Medical History, Chief Complaint, Plan, PE, Review of Systems, Assessment/Plan. The template has to have formatting changed (bold headings and point size), the guy is very difficult to understand, does not use proper grammar and needs most sentences restructured. He slurs through the Review of Systems ...
Hi There! Just curious if there are any SoftScript editing staff out here. I seem to be struggling a lot with making any money since beginning there. I seem to be getting a lot of training review reports with a lot of blanks and/or acct spec errors, incorrect templates, etc. I also end up running out of work a lot and have to type. Not here for negativity just thought maybe someone has some suggestions of how I can increase my productivity from those who have been there longer and maybe tel ...
Can't tell from the archives if only a couple people were having problems with not getting paid or if it was company-wide. Nothing good in the archives though. Anybody have anything to say about this company? Just looking for truth before I apply. ...
Hi everyone! Long time, no see! I've been around the boards for years (since I started MT school back in 2000). There have been a lot of changes in my life over the last few years--changes for the good. I lost weight, got divorced, and now have a new boyfriend :).
I've been working in-house for the last few years and really want to go back to working from home. My kids are all older (3 teens!) and require very little supervision, so I can only imagine it ...
