I was supposed to start there last weekend, but bailed out when I realized they were only going to pay me 3 cpl for editing and only wanted me a few days out of the week. So glad I did now! Sorry to hear you have no work though. This market is getting harder and harder to make a living. I guess we're supposed to work 2 or 3 part time jobs and hope one has work. Bye-bye life! :(

It seems like we run out of work during the week and then get an email early Saturday morning saying the queue is backed up. I don't understand how that happens!

We do the work that the hospitals don't want to do, hence the heavier workload on weekends. It would be extremely nice if they could tell us that when hired, but they don't.

I have asked and asked and asked and ASKED K to give me more work, as they are ALWAYS hiring! She told me that she has to keep me staffed on my account. I get usually less than 300 lines per day on my account! I told her I can handle another account and she said she would look into it. She never responded and then ignored my emails. LM is a JOKE for sure! I don't even bother asking anymore, I found another job and just do LM when I can.

I started at Landmark about 8 or 9 months ago and was told that the account I would be working on was very busy and that they were extremely backed up. I told K that I wanted full-time and she said that would be no problem at all. Everything was great for the first couple of months or so and I had more than enough work. Then, we started getting emails several times a week saying that the account was caught up and to remain logged off for the day. That started happening more and more frequently. I asked K for a backup account and had to ask multiple times before she finally did set me up with a second account, but after a while that started running out of work, too. I really do love my primary account with LM, but there's just no way I can make a full-time living on it, so I also found a job with another company, which keeps me very busy, and I just do LM work on the side when I have spare time. I really wish K had told me when I was hired that it was just an overflow account. That would have saved me a lot of trouble and aggravation in the long run.

Same for me, started out with TONS of work, I made great money for the first few months and thought I had FINALLY found a good job. Then, it went from too much work to ZERO work, overnight. I kept asking and asking and she assigned me to another account as well and that account never had work on it.

Finally, I was asking about work and it was before superbowl weekend and she told me it was slow, because of the superbowl weekend. Then, the entire week after superbowl there was no work and she again said it was slow, because of superbowl. I finally just found another job. The excuses on why there is no work are ridiculous and I don't know why in the world they won't just tell people up front it is overflow and not put them through the stress and headache of it all.

Today, i have work, sometimes not - but it seems to be that way with any company now - if your're happy with everything else, then I'd say to have back-up work with someone else so you have options every day.

I agree. I am the head of my household, so am grateful to have work. I think any company runs out from time to time. I used to work for MQ and they ran out all the time.

I guess my question then would be, can you really make a living on 3 cpl for editing? I mean, how fast can you really edit? I was making about $20 an hour straight typing, but now would have to edit at 650 lines an hour to make the same pay at 3 cpl. What is the average lines per hour with editing? How can anyone make a decent living on that?

I cannot edit 650 lines per hour and my account is almost 100% ESL. I average around 12 dollars an hour WHEN I have work. The problem is the lack of work. If I had work, then perhaps I could get faster and make more money.

Guess they are hiring editors at .03 CPL so firing those of us who were making .04 CPL. I was given a list of reports I submitted with mistakes. Every single one of them were data entry vs dictation discrepancies that I flagged and called to their attention that I had no control over!

My advice if you work for LM: Reject every single job that has erroneous information on it because rather than deal with the true perpetrators, you will be fired with no notice for doing nothing wrong.

I have worked for Landmark for almost 2 years. It was good at first but for about 6 months now I have very little work. is pretty much a bitch-fest, at least it is some sort of contact with other MTs... oh excuse me... MLS. I have never worked at a place where there was so little contact, no feedback, no sense of teamwork. Yes, too much oversight with TLs hovering over you is oppressive and you may say... that's okay, I'd like that, just leave me alone to do my work... but really, it's tough to feel totally isolated, anyone agree? ...
