I'm just wondering if any other job seekers have considered putting a limit on the length of time you will accept for a potential client or employer to seriously respond to your submission of a resume or taking their test? I mean, I do become somewhat skeptical when I respond to an ad or take a test (especially when I've taken a test) that shows some sort of urgency and then I don't hear back from them for a LONG TIME, including no response to followup emails that I send them during that time. Then, suddenly, I will receive a saccharin-friendly, "we want to offer you a position" email. I often wonder if someone else was hired and then quit due to some problem with the job. I also believe that this behavior on their part is extremely rude, and am not sure I really would want to work for them at that point.
My specific situation is that 10 days ago, on a Saturday evening, I received a response to my resume submission to a company, with a request to take a test and return it within 24 hours, which I did. Well, until today, I had received no response, with no response to an email that I sent to them last Thursday. Suddenly, today, I received an offer. I feel like telling them to go fly a kite, or worse.
Sadly, it seems that we have "taught them all how to treat us", and it isn't good. I think it's time we stand up and require a little respect, and I will start by doing that myself. Of course, someone else will come along and take the job, but at least I'll feel good about it.
Just thought I'd share.
