Hypothetical - if an account dries up at Diskriter... - anon4
Posted: May 03, 2011
would one hopefully be placed on another account/accounts or just plain let go? Insight and discussion with a current or former Diskriter employee would be appreciated.

I don't know the answer to your question, but do you already work there and have this concern? It seems to me if you are laid off due to no fault of your own, then you would be eligible at least to apply for unemployment benefits. For this reason, I would think it would be in the company's best interest to find you another account.
Not so concerned right now, just wondering... - anon4

I agree with your summation and hope you're correct that we'd be worked into other accounts. Was hoping a current/former Diskriter employee could give some insight about this. The unemployment thing is not something I'd seek out unless I absolutely had to, though.
Nobody feels able to talk about the subject, of course, just wondering as I sit here with no work, as per usual this past month. Are you all busy checking the want ads? ...
I have a dictator that always says the phrase "wet to drys" at the end of his op reports. Yes, it is always a plural sound. "Wet to drys" just does not look right to me, but neither does "wet to dries." I would appreciate it very much if some of you fellow MTs would weigh in on how you think this phrase should be written. Thank you very much in advance. ...
Let's say for a moment you get this kind of exchange:
TSM: When will be making up the time you missed from your appointment? (note, MT was lying, this was really an interview for a job that didn't pan out)
MT: I won't be. To be honest, I don't really like this line of work at all, my motivations are being here are strictly financial. Your company is just a stepping stone, a crutch, until I can find something that can get me out of this dying industry.

I am considering applying to Diskriter. I just received an email with some questions. I am wanting to know any info on the criminal background check. As a long time MT at DR, I find the undoing of Diskriter to be most upsetting. Anyone else have any thoughts? People have left in great numbers and continue to leave. Global has taken all but a small amount of our work in TR....and those in management could care less about us. I am moving on, but just wondered if others have had this experience? ...
More people laid off today and people still being lied to...outright lies. I just cannot wrap my head around the whole idea that the people in management are telling the lies and executing them daily, yet saying otherwise when asked...or giving some canned response that is a total bluff. Stay away from Diskriter who has an ad on the Job Seeker's Board. I worked for them and it was THE worst experience of my life. It is a very big hospital they are referring to with lots and lots of facilities associated with it and lots and lots of account specifics. You need to have a certified degree as a rocket scientist to work for them. They chastise you and make you feel worthless. The QA will knock you down, and then you have to waste YOUR time to prove them wrong, which they always ...
The S-account is fully functional and also going with another vendor as of next week and we got, what was it, 5 days' notice? We knew it was coming but thanks much (not), Diskriter, for giving us that notice, it being holiday time and all. Oh well, on to plan B. Good luck coworkers. It's my last night tonight, probably my last night transcribing after 38 years. Can't wait to pack up this company PC and get rid of it. I could really party if ...
