Has anyone applied to this company out of Australia and tested for a position with them, then been offered employment? I notice that although you would be working as an IC they aren't requiring you to fill out a W-9.

I asked about whether USA ICs are provided with a 1099 form at the end of the year, and was told that we are not. I guess a foreign company does not have to report to our government, so we don't need to give them our TIN. I guess we would just have to keep track or our pay, as we are still required to report it at the end of the year. Maybe also make sure we get some kind of PayPal record of our payments from them. I have a doc here in the US who doesn't send me a 1099, but I still report what I earn from him.

I just sent a resume to them last night. I do not know what will come of it but hopefully they will get back to me soon one way or another. Do you suzncatznkidz and kabina work for them already??

It looks like I may be working for them. I'm kind of suspicious with it being a foreign company. Like Suzcatznkidz said though I don't think a foreign company would have to have on file a 1099 like the U.S. does, but we will have to keep track of our pay through PayPal.

No, skr, I don't work for them yet but am considering it. So far, they seem quite friendly and accommodating and efficient, and the little bit I've heard about them from someone who has worked for them in the past has been favorable. Here's hoping it works out well for us.

Skr, I heard back from them in a couple of days. Keep in mind that it is Saturday in Sydney now, so might be a couple more days, before you hear anything. Not sure if the "recruiter" works on the weekends. Good luck!

I just sent the resume with a pretty generic cover letter/note. I think I mentioned that I did NOT have prior Inscribe/Emdat experience or Australian transcription experience, but I guess that didn't matter. In a couple of days, they sent an e-mail with some test files for me to transcribe, and, about a day after I submitted the test, I heard back from them. They provided me a link to an Inscribe/Emdat manual and some other links to Inscribe/Emdat tutorials. Have not had a chance to look at them, yet. Good luck to you. Let us know how it goes.

I worked for them for several months. It was hard to make any money because it was so "foreign". They even spell medical words differently than we do. There will be a lot to learn. Patient names are even different, mostly Chinese and you have to search for them. The work is letter format and you have to set up the whole letter according to the client's wishes. It was very time consuming. They pay through PayPal, don't send out any tax forms to you, and PayPal charges a lot of fees to convert the money to US Dollars. I just stayed with them until I found another job. I have been transcribing for 20 years and it was like learning another language and their accent was hard to understand. Just wish someone had answered my post when I asked about them before I took the job. They are about 14 hours ahead of us in time, but the first 2 weeks you have to train during their daytime. They were not really nice either.

You will actually get about 6% less over the actual exchange rate due to Paypal fees. They do not direct deposit to overseas bank accounts. Google the exchange rate and subtract about 6%.

Also you have to subscribe to MDA out of your own pocket which is like $180 a year.

I was sent a link to test for this company and was absolutely floored!
